websater RumRunnerDoogie kind of nice to win recruiting battles for top talent

  2. websater

RumRunnerDoogie websater me either, thought he was going to bama, but glad he committed to the good guys

  3. RumRunnerDoogie

websater RumRunnerDoogie yea stealing beal is huge, didnt think he would pull  the trigger this soon

  4. websater

RumRunnerDoogie websater pretty good just got off of work. Glad to see beal commit and think carter, holloman and thomas are next.

  5. 1mandawgpack

Agree with your logic. Plus this type of talent (and size) only occurs once in a blue moon, so take as many as you can get this year and then scale back in future classes. Plus, Kirby wants true “shut-down” corners that he can put on an island by themselves and, with the exception of Mecole, I’m not sure we currently have any on the team. So, you have to start somewhere and this is definitely the class of DBs in Georgia to build your future defense around

  6. RumRunnerDoogie

Hobnailboot aka RobG better than going through a long drawn out trial probably

  7. 1mandawgpack

I think that many of these young RB are looking at the “shelf life” of the average NFL RB and are realizing that they can’t be a feature back in college. We apparently also lead for Swift, so I think we take 2 of the 3 regardless.

  8. Frankly

    biggityben
I was wondering about this too but when  you put it this way, it makes sense,  especially with Hardman and Mcghee as the only potential CB’s from the ’16 class.  Time to reload the D-backfield.

  9. 1mandawgpack

With us missing on the kid from Savannah in the 2016 class, not signing a full class in 2016, and attrition that has occurred and will continue to occur, I think we’d take both. Plus, history has proven that not every kid honors his commitment, so I think we’d take 5 and be surprised, but happy, if all 5 signed a NLI.

  10. Frankly

JaxDawg From what I’ve seen on various sites, Akers is leaning to TOSU.  Why would Carter be removed from the equation?

  11. 1mandawgpack

We have 2 currently and I think we’d readily take 2 out of Gibbs, Williams and Terrell. I think the other safety spot is reserved for Stevens, with us going to “plan B” only when and if needed.

  12. JaxDawg

So let’s say carter is removed from the equation. As it stands today, would Akers coming to Athens be more promising or is his decision or leaning toward another school due to something else?

  13. PTCDawg

godawgs678 i agree with you godawgs, which cant be a good sign. we take them both if we can get them.

  14. godawgs678

do we take commitments from both Mark Webb and Holloman or is it first come, first serve? I think they are both too good to say no too. I ask this cause I just saw an article on 247 with Webb saying he is going to make his decision soon and Holloman could pop at any time.

  15. BahitsDawg

Hobnailboot aka RobG RobDawg yep, once a team has millions on the line, they try to protect their investment.

btw, I guess I travel in better circles (ie, here) because I haven’t seen any criticism from real Dawg fans against the young man.  I am glad he didn’t get hurt worse.

Life is a challenge.  We get banged up just taking showers, getting out of bed, and just living.

  16. biggityben

Sorry if this was posted somewhere before, but the verbal from Brini, that seems like we are after 4 or so CBs this class? Williams, Gibbs, Poole, Brini?

  17. RobDawg

When you say paysite stuff are you meaning all subject matter or just football? #####

  18. RobDawg

Where in the world are you seeing comments like that? Agree with EC, those are the ones that are selfish… Next thing you know people will be wanting to ban ATVs

  19. DawgLink

Man there are some stupid Bulldawg fans who think Sony’s injury is selfish. Let a kid be a kid. He wasn’t out breaking the law.

  20. Greg Poole

dsw61 Don’t know how that gotdeleted but let’s just stay away from paysite stuff.

  21. dsw61

What are the rules on posting quotes from a 247sports article if the quotes have been posted for all to see on another discussion board? I am NOT a 247sports subscriber. I believe the article is a VIP article.

  22. Avon Barksdale

Let’s all carpool and show him around the classic city! Cali n Titos on me!!

  23. PTCDawg

Lucas Rogers you ARE the recruiting insider…wish i was doing cool stuff like that when i was your age!!

  24. Lucas Rogers

So just talked to Jacoby. He said he still plans to announce before season starts so somewhere in July or August, but does not have a specific date

  25. MMCSDAWG

    BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG 1mandawgpack Greg Poole

Me too, Not an FSU fan, but I absolutely hate Auburn!

  26. BahitsDawg

MMCSDAWG 1mandawgpack Greg Poole Many times a season, I am thankful that FSU beat the Barn in the championship.

We wouldn’t be hearing the end of the miracle plays over and over – including the one against us.  It is bad enough as is, but had they won it all, think “Buck Belue to Lindsey Scott!” on steroids.

I am happy that Gus lost his stinky rabbit’s foot.

  27. 1mandawgpack

MMCSDAWG 1mandawgpack Greg Poole  I bet you’re right.  Like I said, there will be very few scenarios for which CKS has not prepared, and that won’t be one of them.

  28. 1mandawgpack

Dawgnation89  Cam is a physical specimen and a grown man at age 17 or 18, which is just one of the many reasons why he’s so appealing as a prospect.  However, I’ve watched Carter’s highlights and he is also very, very talented.  I’ve very rarely seen a star RB play on kickoff coverage, and the young man is special on special teams alone, not to mention his prowess as a RB.  I’m very excited about him as he plays big boy football in a legit HS football state, so would be very happy with his commitment.  The pay sites seem to like Swift even better (#1 ranked APB in the US), so getting commitments from 2 of those 3 would be truly phenomenal.

  29. MMCSDAWG

1mandawgpack Greg Poole MMCSDAWG I’ll bet he doesn’t attempt a 55 yd field goal with less than 25 seconds left in a tie game without ensuring he has a set of gunners on the field that can RUN!

  30. dsw61

I believe the Steve Wiltfong tweet about Akers is suppose to read that the Georgia commits at “The Opening” are going to be on Akers to commit to Georgia.

  31. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG  Rumor has it that Saban used to have his coaches practice the cadence at which different coaches spoke into their headsets.  While there is a 20 hour limit that coaches can spend with players, there are no limits on how much time coaches can spend with each other.  Also, while I feel certain that CKS will make a mistake or two on certain decisions as a first time head coach, I also believe that such bad decisions will be minimized as there will be very few scenarios that CKS has not identified and prepared for.  Given his mentor and his own self-determination and drive, I truly believe that his attention to detail will be second to none.

  32. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Richmondawg We have a young lady posting social stuff around Athens now as well…. right?

  33. Greg Poole

Richmondawg Yeah, he is entering Grady in the fall – gotta train him up to be the new Logan ##

  34. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Can’t believe they left out preseason Heisman list, and polls!  Those are meaningless as well!

  35. Bleudawg

Richmondawg Greg Poole MMCSDAWG ill come to Va. and be your intern. i can hold you beer..

  36. Richmondawg

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG you have an intern now?  Moving up in the world, Greg…..

  37. Greg Poole

Bleudawg Could be – I think UGA is about to take 2 other RBs and he ain’t playing QB in Athens – that’s why I see him elsewhere.

  38. MMCSDAWG

converted 1981 Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Even the best make those types of mistakes, but like you said,  it only happens once!

  39. Greg Poole

converted 1981 I agree but if my experience with Kirby so far is a guide, he will have someone tasked to watch the clock and keep him posted.

  40. Avon Barksdale

By the end of this season, as Eason progresses, I can see us being that team no one wants to face!

  41. converted 1981

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG In My humble opinion the biggest challenge CKS will have at being a HC this year will be time clock.  That usually kills a couple of plays and or games for a new coach.  Hard to get down till you actually get burned once or twice, then the good ones never make that mistake again.

  42. Lucas Rogers

Greg Poole Avon Barksdale Lucas Rogers Jacoby has been laying a little more low lately. I just shot him a message asking if he still plans to decide before the season. I still like Georgia here

  43. Greg Poole

It is a very exciting time to follow UGA recruiting. There will be ups and down, but for the most part, it is going to about smiles and gloating. If CKS comes out of the season with people thinking that he won more than expected and a positive program momentum…WATCH OUT!

  44. converted 1981

MMCSDAWG converted 1981 Lucas Rogers AlphaDawg It was just “That LOOK” on ALL of the Vols Coaches and Fans that was priceless…. definately one of my all time favorites against them.

  45. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG He seems to be point toward The Opening, now. I think there is a VERY good chance that he will be a Dawg.
I have given Michael Pope, our intern, a list commit posts to get pre-written. I’ll say this, there are 6 names on the list excluding Beal. That does not mean that UGA will get them all or that all will drop in July.

  46. MMCSDAWG

converted 1981 Lucas Rogers AlphaDawg SWEET!  I am beyond ready for the season to begin!  All these highlight films are only pouring nitro on an already burning flame!

  47. converted 1981

Lucas Rogers AlphaDawg Kinda like in 2003.

     https://youtu.be/p2nDpTkJm7k

  48. MMCSDAWG

Dawgnation89 Greg Poole That commit might play QB….   Maybe.  I’m not too confident in Akers, but I like T. Carter and Swift.

  49. Dawgnation89

Greg Poole Dawgnation89 Not what I wanted to hear! I was hoping he was the commit you heard about last week.

  50. Dawgnation89

Also, I know this is a little late but hate to see Dameon Pierce commit to bama! I really wanted to pair him with Zues in ’18

  51. Greg Poole

Dawgnation89 I would be very surprised if he picked UGA, but it would not be my first surprise,

  52. Greg Poole

Dawgnation89 I think he is but don’t bank this one until it happens (I don’t think it will).

  53. Dawgnation89

The 247 article is not free, but just trying to if this is new information? Would this be the information you heard last week EC?

  54. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG Me too!  My Mantra as a Div-O in the Navy was, ATD, do the job right and do it right the first time.  If your doing your best and paying attention to detail and something happens, I’m good with that, but if your trying to take a short cut or half-a$$ing it, then the hammer is going to fall!  I only want to do a particular job or evolution once,  not over and over because you tried to take a short cut!

  55. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG His recruiting is starting to pick up – he was smart to decommit. He will get more offers as NSD approaches

  56. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG  The question of game-prep and gameday coaching is not worrisome to me, but we just do not know until they actually do it. I want to see the kind of ATD (attention to detail) that they have clearly shown in recruiting and spring practice organization transferred to actual games.

  57. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I still have a soft spot for the kid from Jefferson, if we fail to get one of the big time Tackles other than Thomas, I’m all about going after C. Chandler, I want him more than T. Gray.  But I will trust Pittman and company to make the right choices!

  58. Avon Barksdale

Gosh can you imagine if we add him to the mix as well?? Can’t think of a potentially bigger recruiting month we’ve ever had! Maybe even INCLUDING pat signing days!

  59. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole If this coaching staff can coach 1/2 as good as they recruit, we are in for the ride of our lives these next few years!  Win, and they will come.  That is the only ingredient we are missing and I believe that will change in the very near future!

  60. Greg Poole

Georgia picked up a commitment from http://s.sbnation.com/click/7084657.846/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5kYXdnc3BvcnRzLmNvbS8yMDE2LzcvNC8xMjA5MzM3MC9nZW9yZ2lhLWZvb3RiYWxsLXJlY3J1aXRpbmctbGF0cmF2aW91cy1icmluaS1jb3JuZXJiYWNr/56c35a748cc2b2c31d8b4576B6cdd5b7d. Brini is only the second commitment in Georgia’s 2017 class that hails from outside the Peach State. The Bulldogs also picked up http://s.sbnation.com/click/7084657.846/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5kYXdnc3BvcnRzLmNvbS8yMDE2LzcvNS8xMjA5NzMzMC9nZW9yZ2lhLWZvb3RiYWxsLXJlY3J1aXRpbmctUm9iZXJ0LWJlYWwtTm9yY3Jvc3MtSU1HLUFjYWRlbXk/56c35a748cc2b2c31d8b4576B0aedb29b, who is from Georgia but is transferring to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
The Bulldogs now have 10 four- or fives-star commitments. Only Alabama and Ohio State have more, and those are the only two ahead of UGA in the overall rankings. Kirby Smart’s staff is doing a great job with in-state talent.
    SN Nation Crootletter

  61. Greg Poole

Avon Barksdale  I have him on my list to announce this month – still think he will be a Dawg. Lucas Rogers is more familiar with him than I, however.

  62. MMCSDAWG

Avon Barksdale I don’t know…  it seems like he might have cooled a little, but with Kirby and crew, I’m pretty sure we will be happy come February with our signing class!

  63. MMCSDAWG

Reddawg13 Heart can’t take much more than that Herschel video!  Definitely got my heart pumping this morning!

  64. Reddawg13

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG PTCDawg Long arms especially help with guys that are speed rushers.

  65. Avon Barksdale

What do you guys think is going on with Jacoby Stevens?
Some sources say he’s now wide-open. Others say he may still be announcing this month. Seems like those two things are contradictory. Is it a smokescreen and he’s all Dawg still??

  66. Reddawg13

Enjoyed watching the Herschel highlights! Who is next, Hampton, Hearst, Worley, Moreno……?

  67. BahitsDawg

AlphaDawg 1mandawgpack it is an awesome clip.   That scar guy going backwards and the false bravado of the other scar player then pushing Sony like… you can’t do that to my bro!  waa waa

  68. MMCSDAWG

    AlphaDawg 1mandawgpack I’ve watched this clip 50 times now…  do I need help???? ###

  69. DawgByte

MMCSDAWG PTCDawg Bam, I think you nailed it.
One of the knocks on Big Ben is he has short arms for a guy of his height, which is why they’re projected him a OG instead of OT, where he played in HS.

  70. DawgByte

1mandawgpack I played RB in HS with a cast surrounding a broken wrist. Can’t say it was pain free. The good news his he has 8 full weeks to heal.

  71. MMCSDAWG

1mandawgpack AlphaDawg Right, he did play with broken bones in his hand/wrist last season as well.

  72. 1mandawgpack

AlphaDawg 1mandawgpack  The injury and the play you posted happened a year apart.  That won’t be the case with his broken forearm.  That said, Sony has had a number of injuries that he has played through during his time at UGA, so if anyone can do it, he’d be high on the list.

  73. converted 1981

Reddawg13 Greg Poole Won’t matter right now.  It will go up as his size and strength does as will UGA’s Size and Strength………………………..and Championships.

  74. 1mandawgpack

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG PTCDawg  As long as the arms are extended straight in front of the torso, that’s not grounds for a holding penalty.  When arms get extended in a position that is other than straight in front of the torso, that’s usually grounds for a holding call (unless, of course, UGA is on defense as I saw numerous plays where our DL were being held over the past few years with no flags thrown – a great example is the play against Vandy where Ray Drew was ejected for targeting – he was being held on the play as the OL was trying to drag him down from behind with no holding call).

  75. 1mandawgpack

Assuming Sony’s injury isn’t severe (i.e., it’s a pretty clean break), he should be back for UNC, particularly if they stabilized it with pins/screws to help it heal more quickly.  However, my concern with a broken arm is twofold:  a) his mentality and being prepared to take a good hit on that arm and have confidence in it (I broke my forearm during a HS football game and it took me a while to learn to trust it again) and b) ball security as it’s hard to practice taking care of the ball with little to no contact, which is what I expect from the coaches for Sony throughout the Fall practice season.

  76. 1mandawgpack

PTCDawg BahitsDawg  Most pulling guards use straight-line momentum to fulfill their blocks.  A fast guy like Netori will definitely help as it will assist him in getting to the “second level” to block a LB or DB, which will increase the odds of RBs breaking long runs.  However, he may not have the ability to get lateral quickly, which is what an OT needs in blocking a speed rusher on an almost certain passing down.  There can be a significant difference in being fast and being quick.

  77. converted 1981

Greg Poole OK.  Somebody Please splain sumthin to me.  IF!  Andrew Thomas is the #49 Player in the Nation but ONLY the 10th best OT is there 9 other OT’s ahead of him in that group of 48?  If Not I am Cornfuzed…

  78. BahitsDawg

AlphaDawg PTCDawg I read that many programs always try to recruit tackles and move them in to guard and center if they either don’t work out as tackle.

  79. MMCSDAWG

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG PTCDawg Punch!  I was fortunate enough to coach with a great former NFL lineman in Dave Widell.  He is a massive man at over 6-7″ and his arms are LONG!  He taught out pop warner kids how to bunch and the importance of punching with your thumbs up.  I had never learned as much as I did from him about OL play!

  80. PTCDawg

BahitsDawg PTCDawg Thanks everyone, very helpful. I too thought faster guys would be the pulling guards but maybe thats just a small part of the gig. Not sure I ever considered the ‘quick feet’ but can see how that would be an asset on the outside. I just kind of thought the best guys usually played Tackle but figured there had to be more to it than that.

  81. AlphaDawg

PTCDawg Good question, I also would like to know.

So what’s the characteristics for Tackle
and what’s the characteristics for Guard

  82. 1mandawgpack

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG PTCDawg  Being able to extend them to “push” a pass rusher off of his line and around the QB sitting in the pocket.

  83. BahitsDawg

MMCSDAWG PTCDawg The long arms puzzled me.  You don’t want those big clubs being stretched out away from your body because of holding calls, so I wondered what good they are.

  84. Bleudawg

MMCSDAWG ZippyMorocco AlphaDawg DawgByte  @@ is one hell of a 3rd-4th string back. I have no problem w/ him getting carries if needed. If the OL is truly improved he will be fine

  85. BahitsDawg

PTCDawg great question.  I assume the more athletic/mobile guys are preferred at tackle, but it seems you should want a really athletic/mobile guy for your pulling guards.

I am happy we have Pittman to sort it all out.

  86. 1mandawgpack

PTCDawg  Quick feet and length (both in terms of height and length of arms).  With these speed rushers that exist in how football is now played, an OT has to have a) quick feet to be able to “kick out” that outside leg and cut off the angle for the speed rushers) and b) long arms to be able to cover lots of space.  OTs have much more room to cover against what is usually much more athletic defensive players than guards, who typically have a relatively small space to “protect” on pass plays and are usually lined up against larger, less athletic DL.

UGA’s problem as the moment (as mentioned by the current coaching staff on numerous occasions) is that we don’t have any true OT, so are trying to find the guy(s) who can best fill the role based upon the requirements I summarized above.

  87. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg Feet, hands, and length.  I think Pyke has the size, but he doesn’t have the length.  I could be wrong, but I believe his wing span is a little short for a guy his size.   Most OL coaches are looking for kids with that crazy long wingspan, especially at LT.  They want those guys to get a good punch on those speed rushers before they drop into their set.

  88. converted 1981

MMCSDAWG 1mandawgpack Greg Poole AND in that situation we saw Lambert excel and his play exceed the other QB’s###  Just sayin.

  89. PTCDawg

Showing my ignorance here, yet again…I see many times a kid distinguished as being ‘on OG at the next level’ or that kid expected to be an OT…what distinguishes a player from being more suited to be one than the other? What makes Greg Pyke better prepped to be a G and Kendall Baker a T?

  90. BahitsDawg

MMCSDAWG 1mandawgpack Greg Poole Schotty was a much bigger problem than Lambert last season.

The inexcusable lack of use of our very talented TEs still bugs me.  That said, Lambert seems to have some game time analysis paralysis that happens to him when the real games begin.

  91. MMCSDAWG

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Right!!! lol.  It’s also why UGA has invested in the cryogenic chamber and the hyperbolic device!  I played 4 weeks after a compound fracture to my left forearm almost 40 years ago…

  92. MMCSDAWG

1mandawgpack MMCSDAWG Greg Poole I’m not trying to bash lambert and I have said many, many times, I really appreciate everything he did for us last year, especially considering the chaos that was our offensive coaching staff.  I believe Eason will earn the start, but I’m not ruling out Lambert or Ramsey starting, I just simply don’t believe that limiting your offense is the answer to losing a top starter.  His argument about going conservative with Lambert is why we get beat by good teams in big situations all too often.

You are right though…  We don’t know what Lambert can do with Chaney and company running the offense and he might very well win the starting job, but it won’t be because he is more conservative with his throws and is “used” to the game speed.  It will be because Chaney and Kirby believe he gives us the best opportunity to win.  I loved the formations I saw from Chaney this spring, I really liked seeing the TE’s lined up all over the field!

  93. BahitsDawg

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Let’s look at the positive side of this injury.  Everyone always says that a broken bone heals stronger than before, so Sony is going to be more impressive.

  94. PTCDawg

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole So, MMCS, what do you really think? :>)

I agree with the likelihood of Sony being back for UNC. 15 carries for Sony, 15 carries for Chubb, 15 carries for Douglas/Shaq/Holyfield. UGA 38 – UNC 27.

  95. 1mandawgpack

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole  I understand your points, but you’re basing many of your observations on last year’s offense.  I truly believe (and agree with EC) that Chaney will figure out the best way to maximize the talents of our offensive players (including Lambert, if he WINS the starting role as I don’t think it will be handed to him) and minimize their weaknesses.  I fully expect the biggest difference on offense will be along the offensive line (almost exclusively resulting from Pittman’s coaching), which will significantly improve our ability to run multiple sets and better execute the offense.  Last year, we lost our stud RB and had virtually no threats at WR outside of MM.  So, defensive coordinators stacked the box to stop the run and tried to force QBs to use a WR other than MM.  As I’ve stated on here multiple times, our inability to throw the ball downfield last year was as much to blame on our WRs (it’s tough to insert athletes like TG and IM into a WR role and expect them to know how to run good routes and make good reads) and OL as our QB.  I’m not necessarily campaigning for Lambert, I’m just saying that it’s tough to compare last year with this year (although I agree that Lambert won’t magically develop speed and quickness to get outside the pocket and extend plays with his feet, although this really isn’t a fair comparison either as the former coaches didn’t want him doing so, under virtually any situation – look no further than to the UF game where we had a mobile QB and didn’t use his feet any during the game).

  96. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole I am definitely not in line with this article.  First, I believe Sony will be back and playing by UNC.  Second, I don’t agree with the logic of Sony possibly missing UNC as justification for Lambert being the obvious starter.  So if we are going to simply start Lambert now because of his experience and lack of turnovers, we are limiting out offense even further with him back there.  He can’t escape the slightest pressure, he will NOT extent plays with his feet, he hasn’t shown an ability to get the football down the field on a routine basis.  So if I’m the DC at UNC, I screaming, start Lambert, PLEASE!  I know what he can do, I what his weaknesses are, I watched the Alabama tape, I see what happens when you get pressure on him.  Please kirby, don’t throw me in the briar patch…

  97. AlphaDawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg ZippyMorocco Sometimes you need a new change to change the mentality too.

  98. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole That he already weighs as much as Leonard Floyd did at UGA and he still has 1 year of HS left?

  99. MMCSDAWG

ZippyMorocco AlphaDawg DawgByte Exactly why he will be in the lineup!  he might not break one 80 yds, but he knows his responsibilities and knows who to pick up on a blitz.  If I were a defensive coordinator and you put and inexperienced rb out there, I would zone blitz a LOT!

  100. ZippyMorocco

    AlphaDawg DawgByte
Douglas is good in pass pro and as a receiver. He has averaged 4.1 ypc for his career.

Bansai buckeroo The following Kirby statement may give us an indication.

To be a championship program you’ve got to have 5 stars playing on Special Teams and backing up starters. He’s coming from a program where it was not unusual for 5 stars to ride the pine for a year. We’re at least 3 recruiting classes away from having that type of quality depth.

  102. Bansai buckeroo

I know Richt learned his lesson with Knowshon but I am not sure what kirbys position on red shirting will be….

  103. AlphaDawg

DawgByte AlphaDawg I agree. It would mean more playing time for him and he’s good at laying a hit.

  104. DawgByte

AlphaDawg DawgByte I think Douglas would make a fine FB and should be moved to that position.

  105. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole DawgByte Exactly what I was going to say, the surgery is actually a good thing, they insert pins and the bone is more stable in less time!

  106. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg MMCSDAWG ZippyMorocco Mine took a nose dive this past Saturday…  I’m thinking it’s time for a new putter, I putted terribly…  I know it’s not the putter, but sometimes new stuff can make it all better anyway!  Cool!

  107. AlphaDawg

DawgByte Unfortunately for Douglass he doesnt have the previous staffs history of loyalty for him to jump above others. Douglass is a solid back, but he’s not to the caliber of our others. I would imagine Holyfield would jump him.

  108. BahitsDawg

DawgByte I doubt they ever thought redshirt for him or Herrien.   Even if Chubb and Sony were 100%, you need lots of RBs ready to go, with some experience and to take the load off the starters.

  109. DawgByte

Obviously with Michel’s forearm in a cast for the remainder of the summer, there will be a heightened sense of urgency in Athens to get Holyfield more carries during practice and get him ready for potentially playing time against UNC.
Personally, I don’t think Douglas is a viable starting option and none of the current enrollees impressed me during G-Day, so I think the new guys (Holyfield & Herrien) will have to step up. This staff may not be comfortable playing newcomers, but I don’t believe they can afford to be thinking redshirt for Holyfield.

  110. Greg Poole

DawgByte Chubb? He has surgery yesterday – they probably inserted a pin – probably to ensure immobilization during summer workout and speed healing.

  111. AlphaDawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg ZippyMorocco No! My golf game when these Taylormades show up today!

  112. DawgByte

BahitsDawg It will require surgery, so it’s a bit more serious than reported in the Towers article.

  113. TtownDawg

AlphaDawg  Awesome just doesn’t seem to be enough of a word to describe how I feel about this commitment! Go Dawgs!

  114. BenKellam

So was Beal the guy that those cryptic tweets a few days ago were referring to? Or was that someone else?

  115. ed603

Cool!!….made me turn on the TV looking for some footballllll…any footballll…let’s get it on…we got this…GATA!

  116. MMCSDAWG

ed603 Morning Ed!  Class is shaping up rather nicely now isn’t it!  Next up, Big man Thomas…!

  117. MMCSDAWG

BahitsDawg MMCSDAWG  Especially down here in Florida, it’s not just the cars, it’s the idiots that can’t drive!  lol  I’m not one for much in the way of government controls or regulations, but I would be 100 % behind the government forcing the cell phone companies to work with all vehicle manufacturers to implement a chip that will deactivate cell phones once a car is put into Drive.

  118. BahitsDawg

MMCSDAWG BahitsDawg Ban cars.  Those crazy things hurt a lot more people than anything else we get involved in.

  119. MMCSDAWG

dsw61 Totally agree.  Beal’s video got my heart rate up this morning and I almost felt like I went to the gym this morning!   Almost… haha

  120. BahitsDawg

AlphaDawg BahitsDawg Lucas Rogers Very cool.  You have to go all the way down to Notre Dame at #8 to find a team with only 13 commits.

I think Clemson and FSU are going to move up into the top 5 before the class is done.

Wild guess at top 5 this year in no particular order.

UGA, Bama, OSU, Clemson, FSU, LSU

  121. MMCSDAWG

BahitsDawg These kids are elite athletes and they are not going to live their lives in a bubble.  I know some people will get off the tracks and talk about banning ATV’s or water skiing or any of 10,000 things that could have resulted in a broken arm.  It happens, Sony will be fine and the Dawgs will be fine.  If he’s not ready game 1, then someone has to step up and GATA!

  122. dsw61

These commit videos are so much more entertaining than the “three hats on the table” scenario.

  123. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg COOL!   Like the Garage door drop with the “G”!  Welcome home young man!

  124. MMCSDAWG

Reddawg13 RobDawg Yes Sir!  Best option to win is to start the QB with the most talent, potential and skill set, and that for me is Eason hands downh!

  125. Lucas Rogers

AlphaDawg Then Woody was like it’s easy to criticize rankings when you don’t do them. IT ended up with Woody blocking dude haha. Guy screenshotted it and said this is what the 4th is about lol

  126. Lucas Rogers

AlphaDawg Lucas Rogers Speaking of BR did you see where woody and a bleach report dude got into it

  127. AlphaDawg

BahitsDawg Greg Poole RobDawg Yeah it was 95 yards the wrong direction to the DB

  128. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole BahitsDawg My mistake.  It was a 98 yard TD.

“Aaron Davis produces the defensive play of the game, a 98-yard interception return. And it took awhile: Davis picked off a Greyson Lambert pass near the left sideline, then ended up running down the opposite sideline, out-running Lambert himself near midfield.”

  129. BahitsDawg

ajc… ” just riding an ATV at a reasonable speed, hit a bump he wasn’t expecting and fell off.
Snap! Broken left forearm. And just like that, Georgia’s early-season outlook was muddled.”

it could have been a lot worse.  I feel bad for the young man, but I am happy he didn’t get hurt worse.   We sure do take a lot of risks having fun and living.

  130. godawgs678

I’m one of those jersey number nerds…

Is there a list of the new numbers for the freshman out there (besides the EE’s)? I checked Georgiadogs and they aren’t on there yet.

  131. Reddawg13

RobDawg I am still going with Eason as the starter and we can definitely put more emphasis on him.

  132. Bansai buckeroo

@Link…the cast part has me concerned because of ball security….am I wrong?

  133. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole RobDawg Didn’t Lambert throw a 95 yard touchdown in the spring game?

  134. Greg Poole

Reddawg13 His film looks good. I’m looking forward to seeing him in pads in August.

  135. Greg Poole

RobDawg  “whether the QB spot can get prepared to be on all cylinders by the first game”
What that means is – “Can the staff have Eason ready?” >>> We’ll see.

  136. Greg Poole

RobDawg  UGA is screwed if the QB just hands off. No offensive coordinator can make that work in today CFB. That is one of the biggest reason that I do not think Lambert will start against UNC.

If UGA can not make defenses respect the pass and cover the field, ikt will be a long year. Look back to the Bama game last year. UGA had Chubb and Michel and was stopped cold.

  137. RobDawg

Don’t get me wrong I am not saying sky is falling but it does seem to put lot more focus on whether the QB spot can get prepared to be on all cylinders by the first game.

  138. RobDawg

What I mean is that I presumed Lambert would start and game plan would be to have probably a run heavy look to it and be able to manage us through the game. But with potential top two TBs not 100% then the balance may have to shift more to plays where QB doesn’t just hand off.

  139. Greg Poole

Reddawg13 If you mean because of the IMG connection – doubt it. Beal transferred there after Nauta left.

  140. Greg Poole

RobDawg  I don’t really get that. Not disagreeing but QBs don’t call plays anymore. Chaney will design the plan around his players and I’m not sure that Sony changes that much. BTW, I do not see him missing the game or being particularly limited.

  141. RobDawg

I don’t disagree with that but I feel this puts more pressure on whoever the QB will be in that game to have more of a role in that game

  142. AlphaDawg

IF Beal commits to the Dawgs today, UGA will move up to 3rd nationally in the 247 recruiting rankings (assuming all other teams do not also get commits today)

  143. Greg Poole

Those of you who are stroking your worry beads, don’t forget about Shaq Wilson. I thought he looked pretty good after the move from wide receiver and Tae Crowder has had a lot of reps.

  144. Greg Poole

AlphaDawg It is definitely Beal, and he is one of the two that I mentioned last week.

  145. AlphaDawg

DawgLink that silhouette graphic Bleacher Report posted leaves little to the imagination

  146. MMCSDAWG

deltonadawg Morning Deltona!  Glad to see you survived the heat!  It’s blistering up here in Jax.

  147. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg Greg Poole Wrap it up and GATA!  He has played with a broken hand before, he’s a tough kid!  We will be alright!

  148. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole everything I’ve read seems he’ll be alright. I hope he is because we’re going to need him

  149. Greg Poole

My guess is Sony will be in the lineup for UNC as long as it was a simple fracture.

  150. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole You don’t live near a Nu-Way then.  I easily eat that many a year.
