RobDawg Wife and I were just talking about it.  She beat WR by 2 seconds.  She is on something.

  2. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 the girls gymnastics will be fun to watch too. its one of those sports u only watch every 4 years

  3. RobDawg

My wife claims that Hungarian swimmer that just blew away WR in IM had an Adam’s apple and looked a bit mannish. Anyone else think so?

  4. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie tmdawg12 he seems to be the buzz of the usa swim team

  5. Bulldawg Bob2

Here is the lastest on the Maurice Smith “saga” from Seth Emerson over at Dawg Nation:

“Smith still wants to go to Georgia, his mother Samyra reiterated, even though Alabama head coach Nick Saban is still declining to release him to sign with Georgia or any other SEC school. And she was gratified to hear Georgia head coach Kirby Smart say that he would allow one of his players to transfer anywhere they wanted if they had graduated from UGA.”

  6. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg Bulldawg Bob2 Although I like the early Bond movies, some of my favorites with Connery are The Hunt for Red October, A Bridge Too Far, The Russia House, The Untouchables, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

  7. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg Fortunately, most of his flicks are watchable. But  those two are pretty bad that I listed.

  8. PTCDawg

Bulldawg Bob2 PTCDawg good to know, I havent seen either of those. I am re-watching Entrapment at the moment (CJZ is stunning!!) and I was thinking, even Connery’s not-great movies are pretty darn good! Couldnt remember ever watching one that wasnt worth seeing.

  9. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg Yes. Remember the 1979 disaster flick Meteor? Then there is 1974s Zardoz which I watched like 5 to 10 minutes of and was thinking WTH was that?

  10. davidfoxjr

GPoole_BI bulldawgbob2_BI every time during the Olympics, OUR hashtag, includes the flag of Uganda. Any DL down there we can recruit?

  11. PTCDawg

    Bulldawg Bob2 yo Bob!

my off topic question…has Sean Connery ever made a lousy movie?

  12. RumRunnerDoogie

tmdawg12  RumRunnerDoogie RobDawg i think they have a good chance of medals in both men and womens. Will be a lot harder for the men tho

  13. RumRunnerDoogie

tmdawg12  RumRunnerDoogie RobDawg starts tuesday! USA is actually the defending gold medalists

  14. Hobnailboot aka RobG

RobDawg not at all too soon, If I was there and some one had told him to break a leg I would have told him “we didn’t mean literally” geez

  15. RobDawg

So do you think the other men gymnasts give each other the same encouragement that actors do before going on stage? If so the French dude took it way too literal. Too soon to make a joke?

  16. RobDawg

Ok questions for Greg and Michael and anyone else that was there today :
Who was biggest surprise today and why?
Did our QBs take more snaps under center or shot gun?
    How were the shotgun snaps?
Did the WRs look to have depth and do look ok at that spot?

  17. dentaldawg

dawgmum dentaldawg There was dawgmum. Got a lot of old, angry crap out of my system today. That God I got the chance.

  18. dawgmum

dentaldawg You really had a day. I’m so sorry for your loss, but hope there was healing as well.

  19. RobDawg

Uhoh, don’t tell me we will have a visor throwing episode on Red & Black sidelines. Don’t know that I could get used to that

  20. dentaldawg

Glad to hear about how good our dawgs looked today.

Sad day for me. Helped bury an old HS teammate who died suddenly at 58. Our old coach, who is now an ordained minister, gave a moving eulogy. Lots of us old farts crying.
Afterwards, we all gathered together to remember old times. Coach apologized to all of us for the way he treated us as players; the way he ranks and worked us. He said if a coach did that today, he would wind up in prison. I think he is right about that.
Hated him when I was playing for him. Took me several years to appreciate that he made me a better man. Today was the first time I had seen him in over 30 years. Hugged him, cried like a baby, and told him I loved him and Thanks.

Sorry, just needed to get that off my chest. Please pray for my friends family. He left a young daughter behind.

  21. Greg Poole

Bulldawg Bob2  I think Patrick is fine.I commented above that he had no obvious pain or limp
I’m telling you on that when they sent out Chubb to talk to the media earlier in the week that meant he is playing against North Carolina

  22. freddawg

Some people on message boards are so dead set against Lambert that it seems to shade their thinking.  I wasn’t impressed last season either, but all of our qb’s struggled in that offense, and Lambert didn’t arrive until mid summer 2015.  I’m sure Chaney is keeping an open mind and more than one will get a chance win or lose the job at gametime.

  23. biggityben

Did skinny look confused ever during 11on11? How was his command at the line? I’m sore there weren’t audibles, but just curious how comfortable he looked.

  24. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg, people were glad to see Chubb out here of course, and imny were happy to see Ledbetter dressed out.
Lot of folks impressed with Holyfield.
Lot of joking around about the no pics, no vids and no Tweets.
Several wondered if Natrez Patrick is OK. He went to the sideline and looked a little gimpy.

  25. Greg Poole

DawgLink  It is a very vocal staff. Pittman may be the quietest coach – but he just goes off like a firecracker – then he is back in teaching mode

  26. Greg Poole

DawgLink Again, that is no unusual. I soory you guys can’t get close enough to hear Rocker. He is the best.

  27. DawgLink

I noticed Chubb only took about 1/3 of the snaps as 22 and Holy Field. Notice the spelling. I thought Holy *^%# when he got the ball

  28. Greg Poole

DawgLink  Jim Chaney is not afraid to put in place for the personnel he has on hand. It would not shock me if he did that. I’m convinced you’ll see 3 tight ends relatively frequently.

  29. DawgLink

I would love to have a play with both IM and MH on the field at the same time. Both fast as cat crap

  30. Greg Poole

Save me from having to read than the thread – what did most people think about the practice?

  31. DawgLink

He come around the corner like lightning. The second time he was blocked well and still tipped the ball

  32. Bulldawg Bob2

A lot of media and fans were impressed with freshman tailback Elijah Holyfield today.

  33. Bulldawg Bob2

Just watched the French men’s gymnasts break his leg on vault at the Summer Olympics, and I have lost my appetite. That was bad. Really bad. Hope that guy will be OK.

  34. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgDaddy Picked not the best time to do it on a Saturday evening right at supper time.

  35. Bulldawg Bob2

Man. I hope the rain lets up enough for me to mow the grass before next week. There is a tropical system that is supposed to form in the Gulf of Mexico that could bring a good bit of wet weather to Georgia next week.

  36. Bulldawg Bob2

Observations from UGA’s open football practice via Mark Weiszer from the Athens Banner-Herald:

“Defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter was on the field practicing in a limited capacity at the start, the first time he’s been seen this preseason.

Ledbetter wasn’t in pads because he hasn’t gone through the NCAA-mandated acclimation period. He stood with a trainer and was wearing shorts while the rest of the team was in regular pants.”

  37. freddawg

I bet Barrett was drooling when he saw our RB’s.  Auburn might have a huge issue at that position.  Kerryon Johnson had shoulder surgery last spring and that makes three for him, including HS, if I recall correctly.  After that they have some guys who may be better suited for fullback.

  38. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie DawgByte  It’s really hard to draw a conclusion on an open practice like today; although, the coaches probably would not prefer than the QBs throw INTs.

  39. freddawg

Barrett just came from an Auburn practice, got confused and compared Brice to White, Johnson, and Franklin.

  40. RumRunnerDoogie

DawgByte if ramsey was the best out of the three like sallee said then thats not good lol

  41. freddawg

Godwin is very fluid, and obviously more experienced.   I just think Hardman is more explosive and has a better chance of getting around the corner.  That is based on HS film, though.

  42. freddawg

Barrett thought Jeremy Johnson was all world last fall camp.  We should take his assessment with a grain of salt.

  43. DawgByte

Bulldawg Bob2 This isn’t going to be settled for a while. Agree the QB debate will continue. I’m hard pressed to believe Jacob starts against UNC. Just don’t think it’s going to happen. But my prediction record is awful, so don’t listen to me.

  44. freddawg

I hated our “wildcat” offense last year, but wouldn’t mind seeing what Mecole could with it.  I know Kirby says he’s just practicing defense, but at least put in one play just for kicks.

  45. Joe Dawg

Bulldawg Bob2  D’Andre Walker is going to be a major problem for opposing QB’s also!

  46. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 Lets hope he can do that during the regular season against Ole Miss, UT and FLA.

  47. freddawg

I’ve always had a good feeling about Roquan.  People think he’s all about speed, but that kid was a tackling machine in high school.  He’s not afraid of contact and knows how to make a fundamentally sound tackle, at least that how it looked on his highlight films.

  48. TeeHDawg

I empathize with you on the getting up a little earlier part and your brother getting a middle schooler ready.

  49. Bulldawg Bob2

Based on all the reports of hot it is, and it is hot with a capital H and O and T with humidity to boot, if it had been 10 degrees cooler and a little less humidity, there would have probably been a bigger crowd for Fan Day and the Open Practice.

  50. Bulldawg Bob2

TeeHDawg   Good to hear. My brother is getting his daughter ready for middle school, and now, I am going to have remember to leave just a little earlier in the AM when I have appointments at 8 o’clock lol.

  51. TeeHDawg

    That’s great to hear.
We are doing good on this end. Just getting ready for school to start on Monday for the kids.

  52. Bulldawg Bob2

    TeeHDawg  Thanks TeeH.

She is doing well. We are taking it one day at a time.

How are you and your family doing?

  53. DawgByte

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte Guessing by his waistline, I’d say all of the above and all at once!!!

  54. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 I was about to post the same thing. Got to get lower!!! Holyfield has the leverage on Briscoe in this scenario. One thing to note, we don’t know what instructions have been given around tackling.

  55. Frankly

I have no idea how Chaney’s offense will be at UGA but I really like his personality and philosophy so I hope its phenomenal.  It was great to hear from both coordinators.

  56. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte Bulldawg Bob2 DawgDaddy  I believe that is senior defensive lineman Carson Hall sporting no.93. He is walk-on from Mars Hill College and attended East Paulding High School. He walked-on as a junior last year and was a member of the scout team. Listed at 6 foot 5 and 286 lbs, but he may way 15 to 20 lbs more than that by the looks of him.

  57. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte  And yes. I like that he likes pie; although, I wonder does he prefer pie or cobbler and what type? Apple, Blackberry, Cherry, Pecan, Peach, other?

  58. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 DawgByte Greg Poole Bulldawg36 DawgLink doubt many people even knew about it.

  59. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 doubt he gets in trouble considering it seems he works for butts-mehre

  60. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte I’m not in Athens. I’m manning the backend of the operation keeping the info flowing.

Greg Poole and @Michael Pope are there along with @Vance Leavy and several BD Illustrated readers and posters like Bulldawg36 and DawgLink

Hard to tell the numbers looking at the pics I’ve seen. Might be 25K there, but that might be over estimating it.

  61. DawgByte

Bob how many fans are in attendance? Also it’s good to know one of our coaches is a fan of pie! LOL!

  62. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgDaddy Agree. Hopefully, he has learned a valuable life and personal lesson like Alec Ogletree did.

  63. Bulldawg Bob2

I don’t which coach it was, may have been Coach Smart, but someone was getting after Shakenneth Williams at about 15 seconds into this video clip.

  64. DawgDaddy

Bulldawg Bob2 That’s good, it must mean he is doing everything that has been asked of him to stay with the team.  I am pulling for Jonathan to turn himself around.

  65. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 RumRunnerDoogie yea but at the same time he does have a “im too good to camp” type attitude

  66. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie  Coaches have to be careful what they say when recruiting. Ooops.

Now, once a prospect becomes a student enrolled in the program, they can cuss ’em up and down, and chew their arse out lol.

  67. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Yeah. A little. Not sure how they will enforce it on everyone, but the media guys they can go back and check and pull their credentials for a presser, practice or a game.

  68. RumRunnerDoogie

  69. Bulldawg Bob2

We are not going to get much info, if any, from practice until after it is over and most likely after the autograph session with fans. UGA has asked media and fans to not live Tweet the practice to go along with no pictures or video.

  70. MidtownTeacher

yeah, i literally totaled a car with my body on a hairpin curve while on a bike. my knee got gashed up pretty good and my shoulder hurt for months. the officer said when human bodies do that much damage to a car, someone usually is not walking away. right after the accident, i for myself of the hood of the cat on my own power and walked to the side of the road spurting blood as i went.

  71. Bulldawg Bob2

RumRunnerDoogie Back last year, right before the season, I had a chance to talk with one of his handlers, and she said that he was a very healthy pup. Hopefully, he won’t have the health problems that plagued Uga VII and VIII

  72. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 couldnt imagine even driving on those narrow roads let alone riding a bike

  73. dsw61

Bulldawg Bob2 I have a killer Belgian waffle recipe. I cook waffles a couple of times a week. They almost float they’re so light. I eat them with maple syrup. We get the maple syrup shipped down from New Hampshire. Buy it from the sugar house we use to go to when I lived up. One of my daughters eats them with vanilla yogurt and fresh strawberries.

  74. RumRunnerDoogie

Doc R RumRunnerDoogie MidtownTeacher which probably explains why those safety nets are getting a good work out

  75. Doc R

RumRunnerDoogie MidtownTeacher I have exceeded 50 mph, but not approaching those hairpin turns

  76. RumRunnerDoogie

MidtownTeacher these roads have 180 turns down hill all over, its like watching nascar and just waiting for the big one lol

  77. MidtownTeacher

actually, i race on my bike as part of triathlons. 55 downhill is not uncommon. now, is there are turns and curves, then it gets dicey.

  78. Doc R

RumRunnerDoogie Bulldawg Bob2 my directv has multiple feeds, so I get to watch a variety of things

  79. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 they are saying they are going over 55 mph down hill…thats a whole lot of nope

  80. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 i honestly think i wont be these meds too long.  Granted this whole eating healthy thing gets old fast since my cooking knowledge of it is very slim

  81. RumRunnerDoogie

first gold medal awarded goes to a american..and typical ‘murican it was in rifle shooting

  82. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 NBC they keep flipping between swimming and the ridiculous bike race that “only” has 31 miles left

  83. RumRunnerDoogie

Bulldawg Bob2 get some tightness every once and a while. mostly just trying to build up stamina again. Had a couple drinks last night against orders but they arent taking 3 vices from me at once. already took eating anything and occasional smoking from me, wont take my rum that easy lol.

  84. RumRunnerDoogie

these bike riders are flying off the road left and right going down these crazy mountain roads

  85. Bulldawg Bob2

I’m fixing buttermilk pancakes and some wild hog sausage for a late lunch today.
Served with maple syrup and plenty of butter of course.
If I was talented, I would be a G on the pancakesin honor of fan day lol

  86. Bulldawg Bob2

Posts with Kirby Smart, Mel Tucker and Jim Chaney audio from today’s presser are up top in the news and updates section as well as Tweets from the Fan Day presser. Just refresh page to see them. Thanks.

  87. freddawg

After watching some of Alabama’s games last year, I wonder if Kirby and Tucker may have to use a more aggressive defensive style at UGA in 2016.  They had more size and depth at DL and LB’ers, didn’t need to get fancy with scheme.  Georgia doesn’t have that right now, but we do have better LB’er speed that can be used in a lot of ways.  Be interesting to see how they change things up for teams like Tennessee, Auburn and Ole Miss.

  88. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole  Agree. We haven’t gotten to hear much of him or the other assistants, but he is a sharp, witty guy.

  89. Bulldawg Bob2

Posted Tweet below, but Kirby Smart stated John Atkins is day to day with a hyperextended knee and says he “could be out for awhile but should be back.” He is concerned about him staying shape.

He wouldn’t give a definitive answer if “should be back” meant the North Carolina game or not.

  90. Bulldawg Bob2

PTCDawg  Kirby Smart stated as well as Jim Chaney that Nick Chubb is doing everything the team is doing.

  91. PTCDawg

Since I have seen no mention of it I am guessing we do not know what Chubb’s level of participation was during the first contact practice?

  92. Bulldawg Bob2

And that is it from Butts-Mehre from UGA’s Saturday morning pre-practice and Fan Day presser with Coach Smart as well as DC Mel Tucker and OC Jim Chaney.

We should have an audio recording  of the presser up soon for those that missed it as well as some video clips and articles in a little bit.

  93. Bulldawg Bob2

Coach Smart’s two coordinators are also speaking in this morning’s presser: DC Mel Tucker and OC Jim Chaney.

  94. Bulldawg Bob2

Kirby’s presser has started. I’m going to be posting Tweets from Greg, Michael and Vance.

  95. Score Check

    I agree with DawgByte
Plus the constant bombardment of commercials (especially the first 2 hours) was unbearable.

  96. Bulldawg Bob2

And folks, if you are headed out to Fan Day in Athens, make sure to hydrate with plenty of water. I enjoy the adult beverages just as much as some of you do, but on a day like today, nothing beats H20.

Afternoon temps in Athens are expected to be 93 °F with 95% humidity this afternoon for practice and it will still be in 90 °F with high humidity at when the autograph session starts.

  97. DawgDaddy

DawgByte It was poor IMO, I am sure the locals loved the free concert but it did nothing for me.

  98. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte  I’m just glad the arena didn’t fall down on anybody after the stories I’ve been reading and following leading up to these Summer Olympics.

  99. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole So many great freshmen this year I know it was hard for Michael to come up with this list.  It is a solid list but I think we will have at least double that playing meaningful minutes early this year.   Michael is bringing it.  Good job.

  100. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole  I’m looking after the Mrs. BB2 and holding down the BD Illustrated fort.

  101. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Looked like the guy on the right pull up and then backed up thinking the train was going to hit the car.  Close!

  102. BroDawg

I don’t know how I feel about assessments being made in such a small media viewing window… But I agree… I don’t view Eason as a savior who will just be handed the keys to daddy’s new Cadillac. He will need to earn that trust by a everyone on the sideline. All of these kids are still just kids and Eason is no exception. The ability is there.. the test is in how fast he matures

  103. haws1178

Bulldawg Bob2 Greg Poole I was a little cautious about signing up for it because of the junk mail and spam but so far so good great app

  104. DawgByte

BTW, was that the most pathetic opening ceremony in Olympic history or what? WTH, I couldn’t believe NBC had that activist talking head droning on about racism and whatever down in the left hand corner of the screen. Man talk about painting a bad picture of your own country. That was shameful and boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring!

  105. haws1178

DawgByte Bulldawg Bob2 opt for the low maintenance hair cut. #2 guard on the trimmers. Works great for the summer heat lol

  106. Bulldawg Bob2

scuffletowndawg  We will be starting BD Illustrated ON-Air podcasts back this coming week. Look for the one’s with Murray Poole to be posted on Tuesday, and we will have several shows for you guys and gals this season each week.

  107. Bulldawg Bob2

Greg Poole  Yes indeed! And the nice thing about SoundCloud is it’s FREE. When you do sign up, you don’t get much if any junk or spam mail or alerts either. They have a great app for your smart phone and tablets too for both Android and Apple devices.

  108. DawgByte

BroDawg If that’s the case then Eason is going to have to turn it up a few notches in practice. I watched Chip’s podcast yesterday and he said Eason was struggling early on in practice. What that means really is anyone’s guess, but the lad is still going to have to earn it in camp.

  109. Bulldawg Bob2

DawgByte Bulldawg Bob2  I need to go get mine lopped off. It’s getting a whee bit long.

  110. Bulldawg Bob2

Good morning my fellow Dawg fans. How are all of you on this fine Saturday morning?

  111. BroDawg

Marcus Larimore just said on SEC Now “If Eason starts week 1 against UNC, Georgia will win a National Championship”…. lol..I mean I like the optimism….

  112. godawgs678

SIAP, when can we take pictures with players etc? Thinking about taking my 1 and a half year old to get blessed by Eason

  113. haws1178

Hobnailboot aka RobG I’m sorry to hear that Hobnailboot aka RobG .  Let you boss know you only have 3 more Saturdays that you will be available for work lol

  114. Greg Poole

I’m heading to B-M for CKS at 10. I know we get Tucker after him and I think we will get Chaney also. The interview will be posted to SoundCloud immediately and Bob will get them on BI ASAP.

  115. haws1178

Greg Poole haws1178 I’ll get another pair at his size he could probably toss me like he does a foorball

  116. Greg Poole

scuffletowndawg  Thanks, SD. Bob and I had a conversation yesterday about getting Murray’s regular weekly podcast restarted for the season. He will be rolling soon – maybe next week.

  117. scuffletowndawg

I do not usually post, but Murray Poole’s preview was awesome. You did a great job with this and would like to hear more of this from you.

  118. Reddawg13

Greg Poole Great list and I agree with all of them. I would like to add Tyler Clark, Chauncey Manac and Tyler Simmons. We have some great choices to make this year and this staff certainly will coach them up and put the best on the field!
