Today on Bulldawg Illustrated’s UGA Recruiting Daily we look at linebacker recruiting and feature three potential 2018 prospects including Richard Jinbunor, Otis Reese, and Channing Tindall.

With Rome OLB Adam Anderson committed along hybrid OLB/WDE Azeez Ojulari and Caleb Tannor for 2018 and the possibility that safety commit Aaron Brule could be moved to LB, what will the Georgia coaching staff close out this class with at the LB position?

They are working hard to flip Lee County’s Otis Reese from Michigan and have their sights square on Spring Valley High School’s Channing Tindall. If the Bulldogs are not able to flip Reese, then they could offer and look to sway Richard Jibunor; although, he is a heavy Auburn lean at the moment. Or they could choose just to wait for 2019 and recruit an addition linebacker. With 18 commitments in the 2018 class, spots are feeling up fast.

TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS

If position ranking is noted, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.

RICHARD JIBUNOR

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: LB – No. 14 athlete

HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 206 lbs

SCHOOL: Athens Christian High School Athens, GA

CITY, STATE: Athens, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: No

# OFFERS: 18

NEWS & NOTES: Jibunor goes to school just up the road from UGA at Athens Christian and is a very talented athlete. There is some question about what his best position is at the college level and it most likely will depend on the system he plays in. On defense, Jibunor is a hybrid linebacker/safety type player very much like Lee County’s Otis Reese or former Bulldogs Thomas Davis and Alec Ogletree, but on offense, he is a tough matchup due to his size and length of his frame. Jibunor doesn’t hold an offer from UGA but did visit Georgia for the Mississippi State on Sept. 23rd. He recently visited Auburn on Oct. 7th.

OTIS REESE

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: LB – No. 8 OLB

HT, WT: 6 foot 4, and 206 lbs

SCHOOL: Lee County High School

CITY, STATE: Leesburg, GA

STATUS: Committed to Michigan 06/18/2016

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 12/07/2016

# OFFERS: 17

NEWS & NOTES: Reese was offered back at the end of last year in December by UGA. He visited Georgia in the spring in March and was back in Athens for the Bulldogs’ season opener vs. Appalachian State on Sept. 2nd. Reese has been committed to Michigan for over a year, but I’ve put him on flip watch along with a number of other recruiting analyst. He would be a big-time flip for Georgia, too, as the talented Lee County football player is very much in the mold of current UGA linebacker Roquan Smith and former backers/safeties, Thomas Davis and Alec Ogletree. And if you are following the visits, Reese was in Athens for Georgia’s homecoming game versus Missouri on Oct. 14th, and he also made his second trip back to The Classic City in less than a month this past weekend for the Nov. 4th game versus South Carolina.

CHANNING TINDALL

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: LB – No. 5 OLB

HT, WT: 6 foot 2, and 213 lbs

SCHOOL: Spring Valley High School

CITY, STATE: Columbia, SC

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 02/11/2017.

# OFFERS: 20

NEWS & NOTES: Tindall was offered back in February and visited UGA for G-Day on April 22nd. He returned to Athens, GA on the weekend of July 15th for “Kirby-Que.” Like Colquitt County’s JJ Peterson, Tindall could play either outside or inside linebacker. So what are Tindall’s top schools? He hasn’t released a list, but if you follow the visits, in addition to UGA, he took unofficials to Florida, FSU, and South Carolina during the latter part of July. A number of analysts believe it is a FSU-USCe battle for Tindall, but I think his recruiting is more wide open than just those two programs. Georgia is looking for to take another LB in the 2018 class, and the staff likes Tindall a lot. He was in Athens for Georgia’s game versus Mississippi State on Sept. 23rd, and Tindall was back to UGA over the weekend of Nov. 4th for the Bulldogs’ game versus South Carolina.
