Greg is closing in on 15 years writing about and photographing UGA sports. While often wrong and/or out of focus, it has been a long, strange trip full of fun and new friends.

Yea I don’t think we have a lead like people think, I think it comes between us and Alabama

  2. BroDawg

Not reading in to anything but saw a pic of Jacoby at the 7 on 7 he was attending wearing LSU gloves…. also see Bama got a 4 star commit today and narrowed the gap for 2nd. Kirby has lost control ###

  3. dsw61

Score Check dsw61 I know. Just saying I hope Chaney gets the TEs more involved this year.

  4. Greg Poole

RumRunnerDoogie The 3 kids there from Anderson, SC where 2-2018 and 1-2019. You will hear a lot more about them.

  5. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole time to write another re-election contribution to another district attorney#

Watched the 2015 Arkansas-Tennessee game last night. I’m really looking forward to getting some more size on the OL.  They had a 2nd and goal inside the five yard line and they just lined up and played smash mouth football. Didn’t get in on 2nd down, but on 3rd down their RB got in standing up. I wasn’t impressed with Brandon Allen. Also not impressed with Dobbs’ passing ability. Arky’s RBs broke off some really long runs, and their TEs had a good game. Love the play calls where the defense looses the TEs and they end up wide, wide, open. Hope Chaney can work some of that TE magic. Arky used a lot of two and even three TE sets. Tennessee countered with four down lineman and a LB on the line …so five on the line of scrimmage. Just pure smash mouth football. Tennessee’s DL was clearly getting tired in the fourth quarter. Can’t imagine that type offense with an elite QB.

Oh…and Tennessee’s field should be condemned by the NCAA and no team should be forced to play on that crappy excuse for a field. Player’s were routinely losing their footing. Brandon Allen dropped back on one play and planted his back foot…the back foot when throwing is called the “plant foot” for a reason…and his foot slid backwards and he kind of did the splits. Could have resulted in a serious injury.

    Greg Poole
If he is a starter or a contributor satan he will play in their opener.  Otherwise he will likely be a victim of “Roster Management”.

  8. Greg Poole

Zacch Pickens (6-4/240 DE Anderson, SC) Chats with Michael Barnett and Tracy Rocker. Smart and Rocker really want this kid.

  9. Greg Poole

Kavesz Sherard (6-4/300) offensive tackle from Anderson South Carolina – 2018, I think:

  10. Greg Poole

This young man told Tracy Rocker he could not go because he had a charlie horse. Rocker’s body language sums up his reply.

  11. Greg Poole

There was another big guy at camp today – Alvin Artis (GA Prep Sports Academy) 6-9/400

  12. Avon Barksdale

Was watching the sixth sense last night. I think Bruce Willis was a ghost the whole time???

  13. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Bulldawg36 The number of shots a given hole is allowed, a par 4 should take you 4 shots to get the ball in the hole, if you get it in in 3 shots you played the hole one under par, or if you make it in 5 shots then you played it 1 over par

  14. DawgByte

RumRunnerDoogie The guy to the right of Kirby is a beast and a must get in this class. Come on Bryant commit to the G!

  15. Greg Poole

Rush Probst in the house this morning – just after having his suspension overturned.

  16. DawgByte

Hobnailboot aka RobG RobDawg Given his size I think he’s more suited for the DL, where footwork is not as critically important. He’d make a good NG.

  17. DawgByte

I say slap that 7 Foot 400+ lb. monster in the middle of the DL and force the Center and Guard to try and move him! Heck even if he falls down he’ll clog up half the line of scrimmage.

  18. Greg Poole

Bansai buckeroo  I understand he will go to a prep school to try to get his weight in line and not use any eligibility.

  19. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Prayers for the for the Baton Rouge PD……folks think killing Police Officers is going to change how they go about their job, if anything they will be quicker to use deadly force to keep themselves alive

  20. Greg Poole

I found out this morning that Kahrn has lost 40 pounds and is down to a svelte 410. Anyway, when he hit a bag, he moves it – even if the bag is being held by Pat Allen

  21. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole Hobnailboot aka RobG awesome, thanks for battling the heat and getting all these great pics.

  22. Greg Poole

Hobnailboot aka RobG I have a photo of him hitting a bag being held by Pat Allen… Still processing photos, it will be up soon

Hey Dawgnation! What is left like 48 days?! Its getting so close!!! I just wanted to let the beer and wine drinkers know there is a great business in conyers off of the interstate called Gravity that is a growler bar and homebrew supply store. I think the summer has started to hurt their bottom line and I know they would appreciate any new customers. They are super nice people and they are also part of Dawgnation. I just hate to see a family run business struggle. Also make sure all you old timers pay tribute to I.C. Tad, I’m sure the BI gods would appreciate it as well. Go Dawgs!!!

  24. Hobnailboot aka RobG

RobDawg Big Kid, if he could get down to 350 or so, he might get a shot at college ball

  25. dawgmum

Greg Poole godawgs678 Good to know there are some waiting in the wings. Thanks for keeping us updated!

  26. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole Hobnailboot aka RobG I think he could be the biggest impact player Freshman, not named Eason.

  27. Greg Poole

3 kids from T.L. Hannah HS in Anderson, SC were getting the attention of Georgia’s coaches this morning. Photos coming.

  28. Greg Poole

Hobnailboot aka RobG Yes, he does. He was given a prominent role among the players working this camp. I see leadership in his future.

  29. Bulldawg36

Take the big 7 footer! The big daddy baby!!! Let em run it in from the 5 yard line!!!!

I think it all Start with the N.C. game – Win or Lose is not the issue rather How we Start to jell as a Team and Units…. D – Line is somewhat of a concern as well as all aspects of the kicking game. I coul see 9-3 or 11-1.

  31. rugbydawg79

DawgDaddy Right behind you double D heading to Church , check back with ya’ll afternoon

  32. Hobnailboot aka RobG

I saw a pic of TT and he has definitely lost some fat, looks more like an end now

  33. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Greg Poole Michail Carter is a stout young man, he looks ready to disrupt opposing OLs

  34. Hobnailboot aka RobG

    Interesting

  35. DawgLink

Looks like a tank coming down the line. All jokes aside, he is a huge person. The difference between him and Cat is that Cat doesn’t have bad weight at all. He looks NFL ready now

  36. RobDawg

I have to think that a Div 1 strength program could advise him greatly on a plan to get in a better mobility situation. I saw where he enrolled in a prep school program here in Ga and truly hope he can get in a healthy place. If he can’t get to where he can be mobile enough for big time football then he surely has a career ahead in wrestling or acting. Not trying to be funny there

  37. Greg Poole

All of yesterday’s photos are here >> http://bulldawgillustrated.com/?gallery=84527

  38. converted 1981

Looks like he is Ready to play some “Grown Man Football”. Loving it, is it just me or does this O-Line look like it can really jell into a Solid Unit. So EXCITED!

  39. Greg Poole

RobDawg  They say he’s about 440 – it is too bad he can not get that weight down – even 50 lbs would help him tremendously.

  40. RobDawg

Did you see that HS camper that was shown yesterday 7 for 410 pounds standing beside him? Made Catalina seem small

  41. DawgDaddy

Fixing to get ready for early church at 8.  Ushering today so y’all hold it down, I may be able to check in a time or two while everyone is in church or Sunday School, would love to see a commit.

  42. Bansai buckeroo

    Good Morning Top…
Greg…thanks for all the great pictures. We appreciate your efforts to bring us hungry football fans everything that is Georgia football. Getting out in this heat, can not be fun. Be careful out there…..

  43. Greg Poole

Did you see photos of Tyler Catalina yesterday? They are here >> http://bulldawgillustrated.com/photos-kirby-smart-camp-day-2/

    Kenny Britt:
“I am trying to figure out what is best for me,” Britt said. “I feel like the people they are bringing in are some great ball players. You want to be on a team that is recruiting well. They are doing something right. It is good that they are building a great class, but I cannot really focus on that, I have to focus on me.”
Besides being recruited by http://247sports.com/Player/Richard-LeCounte-III-35122, http://247sports.com/Player/Jake-Fromm-64794, http://247sports.com/Player/Jaden-Hunter-75518, and http://247sports.com/Player/William-Poole-III-77590 in a group text, Britt says he is in constant contact with Bulldogs’ head coach http://247sports.com/Coach/Kirby-Smart-264.
“http://247sports.com/Coach/Kirby-Smart-264 is a great guy who knows a lot about me, knows a lot about my program, and a lot about my head coach,” Britt said. “Anytime we are together, we always joke around and talk football. We talk pretty often. He congratulated me yesterday on making the all-tournament team. We have a really good relationship. He is a great dude and I feel like he can really be a great coach and father figure in the SEC.”

“You think a 6 year old really cares? They don’t care who you play for,” Mitchell said “They don’t care where you’re from. They don’t care the color of your skin. Only thing they care about is why are you there? If you can prove to them within five to 10 seconds that you’re there for them, they’ll probably listen.”
How Mitchell reached this point has become an often-told story. A knee injury forced Mitchell to the sideline and into a book club during his time at Georgia. The experience sparked a personal renaissance, with Mitchell creating the organization Read With Malcolm and writing a children’s book called “The Magician’s Hat.”

Talking with other Georgia fans the past couple of days, I’ve heard only two say they think the Dawgs will win the East (and one of them is my brother Jonathan, who predicts a national championship for Georgia every year). Most said they see Georgia as probably a 9-3 team, with a few even expecting 8-4, based on a number of major question marks hanging over Smart’s first group of Bulldogs.
After all, the Dawgs either will start an experienced but not super talented quarterback or will be tossing the dice on a promising but Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, seem unlikely to start the first game as they come back from injuries; there are a lot of unknowns and depth issues concerning both the offensive and defensive fronts and the wide receivers; and it remains to be seen whether the Dawgs will have a reliable placekicker. If not, that could cost them at least a game.
