ZippyMorocco Good to see you are on the road to recovery Zippy.  I have been gone all day and just seeing your post.  Work hard like Chubb and soon you will be squatting 375 pounds too.  lol

  2. DawgDaddy

Frankly Really, I just SMH when a top WR goes there.  Not as bad as going to gtu but still a really bad choice IMO.

  3. PTCDawg

DawgByte DawgDaddy Greg Poole I’m going to make another silly prediction and say I think Chubb starts against UNC and has the most carries for the game. I think he comes out blazing. I think he has such a big year that Sony comes back the following year.

  4. DawgByte

Hobnailboot aka RobG You want to experience hot, go to Dehli in the summer. I’ve been in 114 degree heat with 90%+ humidity. You step out of a cab and it’s like being hit by a moist blast furnace.

  5. DawgDaddy

PTCDawg I agree on the WRs, WTH are they thinking?  We have seen some great WRs go elsewhere when we have had Bobo, Greene, Stafford and Murray.  Now with CKS having Eason in the house and Fromm on the way we need more than 1 or 2 really good ones on campus at a time.

  6. dsw61

PTCDawg dsw61 I don’t understand the WR dynamic either. It will probably improve if Lawrence or Gibson sign.

  7. Doc R

Hobnailboot aka RobG I was in Vegas one summer, and don’t tell me about humidity, it was just flipping hot

  8. Doc R

PTCDawg dsw61 ditto—I guess they wan’t to go to “Crap-burn” and have the likes of JJ or NM throwing to them!!!!  #####

  9. Hobnailboot aka RobG

118 in Phoenix this weekend…SMDH, why anyone would live there is beyond me

  10. PTCDawg

dsw61 everyone has their own mysteries, one of mine is how having Eason and Fromm in the house (more or less) we don’t have Uber Receivers fighting to get to the front of the commitment line. Maybe if we get Lawrence that will help push them over the edge but if I was a WR I would sure want to go where Eason and Fromm are set for the next few years.

  11. Hobnailboot aka RobG

MMCSDAWG Hobnailboot aka RobG me too, I’m looking forward to UGA having a “killer Instinct” and that starts with the coaching, Pruitt tried to bring it in a couple of years ago

  12. rugbydawg79

BenKellam rugbydawg79 godawgs678 my first game was the flea flicker first game of 65 went for 2 and beat Alabama 18-17 I was hooked for life

  13. DawgByte

BenKellam Greg Poole dsw61 I think you’re short changing Michel and Chubb. I think they’ll run for 1,000 yards against UNC!#!%^

  14. DawgByte

Reddawg13 godawgs678 It has been widely reported/rumored that Pruitt was upset about the “country club” mentality within the Dawgs program. I think it’s safe to say Kirby is not implying such at mentality at UGA.

  15. Greg Poole

I don’t have a percentage for them but there is a good to excellent chance for all them.

  16. Dawgnation89

Whats the experts confidence level on these 2018 recruits? I know its a long ways away, just really bored and its friday.

  17. MMCSDAWG

    rugbydawg79 Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG PTCDawg
Definitely Thicker for sure!  Up to around 235 I believe was the last I heard.

  18. BenKellam

rugbydawg79 BenKellam godawgs678 I was about 10 when Richt took over. That was the time I started watching football.

  19. rugbydawg79

Reddawg13 MMCSDAWG PTCDawg Also it seems every picture of him he has gotten a little bigger

  20. rugbydawg79

MMCSDAWG rugbydawg79 Greg Poole thanks MMC I appreciate it – man that would put even more pressure on your knee – very exciting time for us !

  21. MMCSDAWG

rugbydawg79 Greg Poole Not Greg…  but the answer is yes.  Bar in front of your head and over your chest.

  22. rugbydawg79

BenKellam godawgs678 Early Eighties we were calling for The Decade of The Dawgs – Marino and Penn State messed that up -but it will always be 10 to 9 in Texas

  23. rugbydawg79

Greg Poole since there are no stupid questions – does a front squat mean you are holding the bar over your chest as opposed to behind your neck ?

  24. dsw61

Did a quick hypothetical QB depth chart for Lawrence. I just looked at Clemson and Georgia. IMO Georgia clearly has the better depth chart. I think the earliest realistic chance he has of starting at Clemson is 2020. At Georgia it would be 2019. That’s assuming that Eason and Clemson’s Johnson live up to their billing. If Lawrence doesn’t sign with Georgia, Zach Gibson is right behind him in 2019. He also looks like the real deal. Hope we get Lawrence, but Gibson looks like he could be really special too.

  25. Reddawg13

Greg Poole Football is played in the fall, but is a year round sport if one wants to win championships.

  26. MMCSDAWG

Hobnailboot aka RobG I agree, but I am ready for a change in philosophy.  I don’t want to play not to lose, I want to play to win.  I am still dumbfounded as to why F. Bauta started against UF last year.  That type of mentality will lose more games than win, IMO of course.  It’s like the golfer that is suddenly leading by 2 stokes in the final round of the Masters, he’s gotten there by playing “his” game, whatever that is.  But all of a sudden he sees himself at the top of the leader board with only a few holes remaining.  He goes conservative and tries to manage his way thru the last few holes playing it safe instead of playing the game that got him to the top of the board.  More often than not, he will lose, the great ones know how much to challenge a particular hole (or situation) and they know how to close….   I want a Closer, not a manager.  I will gladly trade 1 interception for 3 TD’s.  And I honestly believe that is the ratio that Eason and Cheney can accomplish.  We should have a pretty good defense, we might not be as deep along the front line as I would like, but I do believe the defense will be improved and better against the run this year, so a single turnover won’t always result in points for the opposing team.

  27. Reddawg13

Bansai buckeroo Word! And one must also remember the team will support the one that is leading and putting in the work to be that man! Not saying the others aren’t, but I bet I know who is working the hardest.

  28. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG PTCDawg Agreed. And although the level of play Eason will face is a lot higher, he is no dummy and he is doing everything he can to be ready. He faced serious competition in the 7 on 7’s he dominated. It’s not like he was playing TE and we all of sudden needed him at QB. And I too am pumped and if Kirby sends in Lambert I will cheer and party on!

  29. Reddawg13

PTCDawg I’m sticking with Eason. If CMR was still here I would go with Lambert. I believe Chaney has Eason ready to go. We gain nothing by starting Lambert but a lot of hand offs, a stacked box, and dump off passes with a sack or two.

  30. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG Reddawg13 godawgs678 and with that the confidence to convert that 4th and goal. The team will accomplish what they see the coach accomplish.

  31. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG godawgs678 Richt took us to a higher level than we were but we leveled off and couldn’t leap that last hurdle. McGarity took some admin duties away from Richt and he told us that would give him more time to develop the team and find ways to be on the cutting edge. He didn’t find those ways and develop a championship team. He may have have gotten more money if he had shown he was full bore for a Natty and elite status. Of course as usual JMO.

  32. Reddawg13

godawgs678 I must agree. Kirby believes we are Georgia too, but believes that one still has to outwork the competition to win Natty’s. I believe Richt was satisfied with his and his coaches efforts and just believed that it wasn’t our time yet for his Natty. I believe he bought into the, well look how long it took Dooley and Osborne theory. Kirby may not win one for a long time but he is going at it like he plans on it being next year!

  33. MMCSDAWG

godawgs678 Pretty sure CMR was a different animal in 2005 than he was in 2015.  I still blame our administration and especially Adams for failing to give him and our football team the support they needed and deserved.   I am of the opinion now that what happened last fall was probably best for all involved and wish CMR the best down in Miami!  He was a DGD and will always be one of our greatest coaches.

Your right though, there is a new breed in town and if they can coach 1/2 as good as they recruit we are in for a helluva a ride!!!

  34. BenKellam

godawgs678 Good things on the horizon. Can’t wait to see how it all plays out. I can’t remember the last time dawg nation was this optimistic.

  35. godawgs678

I love me some Richt, but the recruiting this new staff is doing is unlike anything I have ever seen. There seems to be a top recruit on campus every single day. Every weekend there are multiple top prospects visiting. To me, it really shows me the lack of dedication to recruiting by the old staff. I feel they had the mentality “We’re Georgia. Kids will come play for us.” While Kirby and company are attacking and being proactive. We will see how Kirby can do in the regular season, but he’s absolutely winning the off-season. No doubt about it.

  36. Hobnailboot aka RobG

My take on Lambert is he gives us the best shot not to lose, not the best shot to win. If UGA gets behind Lambert won’t be the one to march the team down the field and come from behind to win a game but if they have a lead his experience would serve us well as a game manager

  37. dsw61

Greg Poole dsw61 Right. If it were me I would just scale back the playbook, give Eason the ball, and tell him that you’ve decided to let him learn using the “trial-by-fire” method…because you believe he can handle the adversity that he will experience playing as a freshman in the SEC. If Kirby truly believes he can make it to the SEC Championship game with Lambert; I guess I would go that route, but he better be 100% confident he can do that with this team; because if it doesn’t work out that way then he will have wasted an opportunity to give Eason some valuable experience for 2017.

  38. MMCSDAWG

Bansai buckeroo always trying to find a way to cheat!  But like some say, if you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying!  lol!

  39. BenKellam

Greg Poole dsw61 Especially when Sony and Chubb combine for 800 yards on the ground that game. But in all seriousness, I agree with dsw. Just let him learn and make mistakes. At least his mistakes serve a purpose as opposed to if Lambert is out failing to do anything productive.

  40. Greg Poole

    Keith Marshall:
He missed the past two weeks because of a hamstring injury, but the coaches were pleased with his showing before that point. They liked his cuts and his burst and view him as a good complement to the top two backs, http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/2980105/matt-jones and http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/15966/chris-thompson.

    http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/206021/sua-cravens-kendall-fuller-showed-instincts-that-helped-them-get-drafted

  41. DawgLink

I know who I would want in there Big E. Sure was nice when we had 2 minutes and needed a TD and Murray would march down the field and get it. I miss that!!

  42. PTCDawg

dsw61 Greg Poole PTCDawg I cant imagine sacrificing a few games or a season for the benefit of the future is the way any successful college coaches think.

  43. Greg Poole

dsw61 From what I’ve seen, it will take more than UNC to shake Eason’s confidence.

  44. dsw61

Greg Poole PTCDawg I hope Kirby is thinking of the good long term consequences of starting Eason this season.; rather than focusing on any potential short term consequences.

  45. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg Bansai buckeroo I will ask this question…  If we are trailing UNC by 4 points with 1:52 seconds remaining in the game and only 1 time out remaining.  We got the ball on our own 31 yard line.  We need a TD to win the game, Who do you want back there as your QB?

  46. PTCDawg

Bansai buckeroo as I say, I think the gap is very small. Its just at the end of the day I dont think Kirby looks at the UNC game and thinks his best bet to win is starting his true freshman qb. has nothing to do with how quickly someone learns, or who has the best arm, or who has the most experience..its always and only about who gives the team the best chance to win. May well be Eason come Sept 3. or Ramsey, or Lambert.

  47. dsw61

I’ve never understood the reasoning that a young player like Eason can lose confidence if they get thrust into competition early and struggle a little. If Eason were to start; at some point in the game he’s going to complete a pass. If he can complete one pass he can complete two passes. If he can complete two, he can complete three…etc. When he throws his first interception he’ll figure out it’s not the end of the world. In fact, it wouldn’t bother me if he threw one in his first game to get it over with. Interceptions for a QB are part of the game.

Mason sat behind Murray for four years…studied the playbook…learn how to run the offense…got snaps in games to get experience…and he still struggled; especially early. If it weren’t for the running game things would have been a lot worse. I agree with Hines Ward when he says that the quickest way to learn is to play. I trust that Chaney knows how to make sure that Eason doesn’t lose his confidence. Florida won the East last year with terrible QB play. If Rosen can survive his freshman year, I’m sure Eason can. I’m pretty sure that Rosen is going to have lots of confidence this season after all the experience…good and bad…he got last year.

  48. Bansai buckeroo

I think with the confidence he gained at G day, Eason will come on strong this summer and take it……

  49. MMCSDAWG

PTCDawg You could very well be right, and if he does start it will not diminish my excitement and expectations for this season at all.  But, I’m still leaning to Eason, I just can’t find where the positives don’t outweigh the negatives when weighing which QB gives us the best opportunity to win each and every game.   It will be interesting to see how things go once the summer/fall practices begin.   I agree with Hines…  The best way to learn is on the field, not on the sidelines.  If we are going to challenge for the SECe and possibly beat both UTk and Ole Miss, then Eason will need all the experience he can get before those games come around.

I will be happy and supportive no matter who starts though!

  50. Greg Poole

PTCDawg  I’m sticking with my Eason guess. The nice thing is that when you and I are wrong there are no consequences – unlike Kirby Smart.

  51. PTCDawg

Also, I will re-iterate my QB prediction. I don’t think it matters because I think we will be successful regardless of which of the 3 it is, but I still think the most likely starter against UNC is Lambert. Its close though, closer than I thought it would be. I wouldnt be surprised to see any of the 3 start.

  52. Bulldawg36

I had my buddy uncle Lou take care of that chicken fan yesterday! Lou made a video about sc fans. Lol

  53. Bansai buckeroo

I’m pulling for him. I read he is entering his 4th season which doesn’t seem possible..

  54. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Bansai buckeroo As long as his shoulder hold up, I believe he will have a really good year!

  55. MMCSDAWG

DawgByte Greg Poole That’s what I’m thinking!  Maybe not immediate NC type success, but I am anxious to see just how this team reacts when they are down or when the going gets tough!

  56. MMCSDAWG

ZippyMorocco There he is!!!  Welcome back Zip!  Hopefully the recovery and rehab will progress quickly!  so you can GATA!

  57. ed603

BahitsAgain  I’ll miss the ole codger Vern! Always good for a chuckle…and he tried hard to entertain.

  58. BahitsAgain

DawgByte Bleudawg He had Schotty.  Had Bobo been here, he would have started.

Ramsey has talent, but couldn’t win Schotty over.

  59. DawgByte

Greg Poole That’s what makes this season so compelling. In my opinion Kirby is doing everything a great leader is suppose to do and say. How this translates into on field performance is beyond intriguing. One would naturally think it would lead to improved performance across the board.

  60. ed603

ZippyMorocco dawgmum  Therapy is the worst part, but helps the most…hope for a quick recovery, Zip!

  61. ZippyMorocco

dawgmum ZippyMorocco Thanks. Most of the pain is gone. It will start again when the therapist shows up to torture me this morning.

  62. ed603

godawgs678 DawgLink  Blue should have worked for K-Mart… he was a master at the “Blue Light-up special!”

  63. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole urgency!  That is the word of the day right there!  URGENCY…  that is a great way to describe what I’ve seen from kirby and our staff so far!

  64. Greg Poole

This is the essence of the Saban coaching tree.  You see it every day with Smart’s administration – the urgency:

On Saban, [Derek] Dooley always had advice when a new coach would join him and Saban.
“The first thing I told a new coach was, every day, I don’t care if it’s March 5, May 10, June 28, Oct. 14, it’s 4th-and-1 for the national championship every day. It is,” Dooley said. “As a young coach, I absolutely loved the environment, because it made me better. I knew I was getting better. I knew when I didn’t perform to a standard that he was going to confront me.
“Even though I’d get upset sometimes when he’d confront me — there were very few times — he was right. I could have done this better. That environment was perfect for a guy like me. It’s not good for other coaches who didn’t like it.”
    http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=Derek-Dooley-shares-advice-on-what-it-takes-to-work-for-Nick-Saban

  65. DawgByte

Bleudawg I don’t think Ramsey has what it takes to be our starting QB. If he did, he would have started last year.

  66. BahitsAgain

MMCSDAWG godawgs678 DawgLink I don’t recall that their hits were illegal.  I don’t remember any head shots, not that it didn’t happen.

Unfortunately, the officials seem to make the calls based on the reaction from the fans.  Blue got a lot of Bluuuuuuuuu!!!!!! reactions

  67. Bansai buckeroo

Bleu…I think he is a Eason type guy. Once he finds what he wants, he will commit and stick.

  68. Bansai buckeroo

I think you are right Red…I think Georgia has everything this young man is looking for..

  69. Reddawg13

MMCSDAWG Bleudawg He did look better than Lambert to me also. I just believe that this new regime turns on that light bulb in Ramsey and he becomes the QB we thought he could be. Does he start over Eason? I don’t think so, but he is ahead of Lambert. If Lambert is our choice we are in some trouble. JMO.

  70. Hobnailboot aka RobG

Hell yeah!!!! Just saw a post below saying today was Friday… I woke up thinking today was Thursday, that is an instant mood booster

  71. MMCSDAWG

godawgs678 DawgLink  Exactly what I was thinking too, those two would spend more time suspended than playing, although I’m pretty sure they would adapt and I would love a thumper back there in the backfield!

  72. MMCSDAWG

Bleudawg I made my prediction on starting QB a while ago…  I predicted Eason as the game one starter, but also said that Ramsey is the wild card.   If Kirby and Chaney are able to uncover that missing link that has kept him from playing, then he could very well be the starter.  I will tell you this, he looked better than Lambert in the spring game imo.

  73. godawgs678

DawgLink Man, what I wouldnt give to have Blue and Thomas Davis back there headhunting…

Of course, those guys would most likely been suspended for half out games with the new targeting rule…

  74. godawgs678

Bleudawg I’ve also said it before, but I’ll say it again. Ramsey doesnt seem to be a natural leader. I went to the spring game two years ago. I saw Mason and Park jumping around and getting in people’s faces. I also saw them clowning around with their teammates on the sidelines too. On the other hand, I observed Ramsey was standing alone on the sidelines tossing the ball up in the air to himself.

  75. Reddawg13

Bansai buckeroo I like your feeling! That sounds good to me. He may have already committed, just waiting on Kirby to pick the perfect time for his announcement.

  76. Bleudawg

Bansai buckeroo I wish he would hold off. Thats a long time to try and hold onto a guy.

  77. Bansai buckeroo

Ok guys….when will Lawrence commit? I think he is close. Maybe before his team starts practice. Just a feeling.

  78. Reddawg13

Bleudawg My response brought up Ramsey. In my mind he is the next best choice behind Eason. He looked good in the spring game. I believe Chaney helps him a lot.

  79. godawgs678

Bleudawg To me, he just doesnt seem to have the “want to” attitude. He has more of a punters mentality, not a QB. I think his future is best set up for a backup QB role and our starting punter. Just my opinion.

  80. Bleudawg

The article on Eason nor many others never bring up Ramsey. Do any of you think hes simply not going to make it? I (and Im not a guru or insider) think that he still may crack the line up.  Guess its why Im bloggin and not coaching.

  81. WalktheDawg Whisky

Greg Poole Could be worse.. you could have to drain a quart of Colt45….

    r

  82. Reddawg13

DawgByte I would like to see him at OLB, SS or as rugby says the star or whatever Kirby and Tucker call it. I want to take advantage of his speed and athleticism.

  83. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole That seems low.  Obama spends that much thinking about one of his Hawaii vacations.

I imagine that 350k is easily made up for if they get a few top recruits out of it.

  84. BahitsAgain

Greg Poole I understand the ACC restriction, but the 4 year thing for other schools over the top.  Let the kid play for boom and the chickens.

  85. rugbydawg79

DawgByte or maybe the Star position ? Isn’t that like a SS except closer to the box ?

  86. DawgByte

    Top of the mornin lads.

Question: What to do with Roquan Smith? Is he an ILB that should be paired with Natrez Patrick or should he be converted to SS? One thing is for certain… he’s too physically talented to ride the pine.

  87. WalktheDawg Whisky

DawgDaddy Greg Poole Some fans need to get a life and a priority adjustment.

  88. DawgDaddy

    Good Morning to Dawgs Everywhere.

I am playing in a charity scramble at River Forrest this morning.  We should beat the rain and most of the heat.   See y’all later.  GATA

  89. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Those seats will sell.  It is a potential World Championship so for some fans that is a cheap price to actually be there.

  90. Greg Poole

    Ty’son Williams transfer:
“He just said he and UNC wasn’t a good fit,” http://www.thestate.com/sports/college/university-of-south-carolina/usc-recruiting/phil-kornblut/article84297547.html. “He’s looking to go somewhere on the D1 level and has his papers. Full release with some stipulations. He cannot transfer to another ACC school or any school who will play North Carolina in the next four years. That makes it a little bit harder to keep him in the Southeast. He said he would like to stay in the Southeast if at all possible.”
That stipulation in his transfer could make it difficult for him to arrive in Columbia. The Gamecocks are set to play the Tar Heels in 2019. That would be Williams’ potential redshirt senior year.
