Today on Bulldawg Illustrated’s UGA Recruiting Daily we look at Georgia’s 2018 defensive line recruiting.

With Mallard Creek High School defensive tackle Josh Davis’ commitment on Thursday, Nov. 16th, Georgia now has three D-linemen committed for the 2018 recruiting class including Liberty County’s Tramel Walthour and JUCO prospect DeVonte Wyatt. So are the Bulldogs done with this position group?

I don’t think so. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Georgia coaching staff add at least one more defensive tackle prospect to this recruiting class. Let’s take a look at six potential prospects that could fill that fourth spot.

TODAY’S FEATURED PROSPECTS

If position ranking is noted, unless otherwise stated, it is 247 Sports latest composite ranking of the player.

CHRISTIAN BARMORE

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – No. 28 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 5.5, and 292 lbs

SCHOOL: Saints Neumann & Goretti High School

CITY, STATE: Philadelphia, PA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on October 2nd.

# OFFERS: 15

NEWS & NOTES: Since UGA offered Christian Barmore just over a month ago on Oct. 2nd, his recruitment has literally exploded. The Philadelphia, PA prospect has received over eight offers since the Bulldogs offered. He had been committed to Temple but de-committed from the Owls on Oct. 6th.

Barmore is a physical specimen at nearly 6 foot 6 and 292 lbs and is athletic for a player his size. However, he has only been playing football for about a year; so, he is still raw but his potential is sky high.

ROBERT COOPER, JR>

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – No. 5 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 2, and 377 lbs

SCHOOL: South Gwinnett High School

CITY, STATE: Snellville, GA

STATUS: Committed to FSU 06/16/2016

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 01/26/2017.

# OFFERS: 34

NEWS & NOTES: Robert Cooper is a massive human being and a monster in the trenches. The South Gwinnett High School D-lineman has been committed to Florida State since last June, but the Georgia coaching staff offered him in January and have been busy trying to make up ground in his recruitment. Keep your eye on this one. With the job Coach Tray Scott has done with the Dogs’ D-line, it has made prospects like Cooper stand up and take notice. There is a possibility that UGA could flip Cooper, here, and Georgia got him on campus for a visit on Oct. 14th for the Missouri game.

Cooper could be the heir apparent to John Atkins at nose guard for Georgia for the next several years. He’ll need to come in and do some work in the strength and conditioning programs, think of him as Solomon Kindley when he came to UGA but just on the other side of the ball.

JACKSON CRAVENS

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – No. 51 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 275 lbs

SCHOOL: Timpview High School

CITY, STATE: Provo, UT

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on August 6th.

# OFFERS: 19

NEWS & NOTES: Georgia offered Cravens on Aug. 6th and while Utah and Washington are both favored landing spots for the Timpview HS big man and several other Western U.S. programs have recruited him heavily, his recruitment is still wide open. Cravens listed the Bulldogs in his top 7 schools that he released on Twitter on Nov. 6th along with Arizona, Michigan State, Oregon, Utah, Vanderbilt, and Washington. He has taken one official visit this fall that I know of and that was to Michigan State on Sept. 22nd.

His tape looks good, and as a junior, Cravens had 160 tackles, 20 for a loss, and 13 QB sacks. Those are impressive stats, even if the competition isn’t as stout as some of the other high school classifications and regions around the country in states like California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

RICK SANDIDGE

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – No. 11 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 5, and 288 lbs

SCHOOL: Concord High School

CITY, STATE: Concord, NC

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 01/19/2017.

# OFFERS: 23

NEWS & NOTES: Sandidge was offered back in January by Georgia and included the Bulldogs in his top-11 schools on May 1st. UGA’s new D-line Coach Tray Scott recruited Sandidge when Scott was coaching the position group at UNC. The Concord HS senior visited Athens with his family the weekend of July 15th and Tweeted out he loved UGA; however, he also had a very good visit to Columbia, SC on July 20th and 21st. On August 7th, he released a top seven that included UGA and USCe.

It looks like this may end up being a Bulldogs vs. Gamecocks battle with South Carolina having a big edge here. This football season, Sandidge has visited UNC on Sept. 9th and South Carolina on Sept. 16th, and he visited Columbia, SC again on Oct. 28th. Sandidge did take a visit to Athens on Saturday, Nov. 4th for Georgia’s game versus the Gamecocks. He has an official visit planned to Michigan for Nov. 25th.

TREVOR TROUT

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – No. 16 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 3, and 315 lbs

SCHOOL: Chaminade High School

CITY, STATE: St. Louis, MO

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 02/01/2017

# OFFERS: 30

NEWS & NOTES: Trout was offered by the Bulldogs’ coaching staff back in February, and he put UGA in his top 9 on June 13th. The big D-lineman out of Missouri has a number of major FBS offers. Trout had a busy summer taking unofficial visits to schools like A&M, TCU, and Oklahoma. The big question is whether or not Trout will stay home and commit to Mizzou? And if he doesn’t, then where is he most likely to go?

Well, we got a little clearer picture on Oct. 30th, when Trout released his top six which included the Bulldogs along with Bama, Miami, Missouri, Southern Cal, and UCLA. He took an official visit to UCLA on Sept. 30th, and he just came off an official visit to Texas A&M last weekend on Nov. 11th. He plans to take an official to Southern California this weekend (Nov. 18th), and right now, the Trojans are trending heavily for Trout.

SIONE VEA-KAVA

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DL – 128 DT

HT, WT: 6 foot 6 and 270 lbs

SCHOOL: East Los Angeles College, Monterey Park, CA

CITY, STATE: From Kalani HS, Honolulu, HI

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on August 4th.

# OFFERS: 14

NEWS & NOTES: Sione Vea-Kava is a JUCO DT prospect out of East Los Angeles College in California and is from Honolulu, Hawaii. Georgia offered the nearly 6 foot 6 and 270 lbs D-lineman back in August. One might think this is a long shot, but there is significant interest on the part of Vea-Kava in Georgia and Tray Scott likes the potential of the athletic big man who could play either at DT or SDE for the Bulldogs.
