Today on Bulldawg Illustrated’s UGA Recruiting Daily we take a look at Georgia’s offensive line recruiting as we close in on the Dec. 20-22 early signing period. Let’s look at which offensive linemen are currently committed to UGA, if any committed elsewhere have any flip potential and three undeclared prospects.

WHO IS COMMITTED TO UGA

Owen Condon (OT)
Warren Ericson (Center)
Trey Hill (OG/Center)

As of right now, the Bulldogs have three O-linemen committed for 2018. Owen Condon out of Bishop McGuinness High School, Oklahoma City, OK is a 6 foot 7 and 315 lbs four-star prospect and the No. 37 OT according to 247’s composite ranking system. Condon committed to UGA on June 10, 2017, and he will sign his LOI on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 12:40 p.m. and is a normal enrollee.

Warren Ericson out of North Gwinnett High School, Suwanee, GA is a 6 foot 4 and 307 lbs four-star prospect and the No. 5 center according to 247’s composite ranking system. Ericson committed to the Dogs back on June 2, 2017 and is set to sign during the early signing period on Wednesday. He also is planning to enroll early at UGA in January.

Trey Hill out of Houston County High School, Warner Robins, GA is a 6 foot 3.25 and 346 lbs four-star prospect and the No. 2 OG according to 247’s composite ranking system. Hill committed to Georgia recently on Dec. 11, 2017, and he plans to sign his LOI on Wednesday morning and will enroll early at UGA.

FLIP POTENTIAL

As of right now, I don’t see any offensive linemen committed elsewhere that could potentially flip to Georgia, especially given that the Bulldogs already have three highly rated prospects committed and look to sign early on Wednesday as well as likely to get commitment from Jamaree Salyer and Cade Mays, which we will talk about below.

UNDECLARED TARGETS

Cade Mays (OT)
Jamaree Salyer (OG)
Doug Johnson (OT)

The Georgia coaching staff is looking to sign five O-linemen in the 2018 class and with three already committed and ready to sign, who will be remaining two to round out the “Great Wall of Pittman circa 2018?” All signs point to Pace Academy’s Jamaree Salyer and after his official visit over the weekend, Knoxville Catholic High School’s Cade Mays. If one of those two falls through, Doug Johnson out of Fort White, FL could be a potential ‘back-up’ plan or the staff might just go with four and then look to the 2019 class. The big Australian out of IMG Academy, Daniel Faalele had been a target but he ended up committing to Minnesota about 10 days ago on Dec. 9th.

DOUG JOHNSON

SCHOOL: Fort White High School

CITY, STATE: Fort White, FL

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 08/09/2015.

# OFFERS: 14

NEWS & NOTES: UGA was one of the first two schools to offer Doug Johnson back in 2015. Kirby Smart, Sam Pittman and the Georgia staff have continued to recruit him. He definitely fits the mold for what Pittman likes in an O-lineman as far as his height, length, and overall size as well as rare athleticism for a player his size. Johnson has had a pretty quiet and low key during his recruiting process the last year and he doesn’t do a lot of camps. Unless UGA doesn’t get sign Cade Mays or Jamaree Salyer, as talented as Johnson is, I don’t expect him to commit to the Bulldogs.

NEWS & NOTES: Cade Mays had been committed to Tennessee since July of 2015 but started looking around at other programs just before Volunteer Head Coach Butch Jones was let go. Then on Nov. 7th, he decided to officially de-commit from Tennessee. He does hold an offer from Georgia and took an unofficial visit to UGA on Nov. 4th for the South Carolina game, just three days before he de-committed.

He took officials to Ohio State on Nov. 11th, Clemson on Nov. 18th, Notre Dame on Dec. 8th, but ended up cancelling his official to Tennessee on Nov. 25th. Mays just came off an official visit on Dec. 15th to UGA.

So will Georgia land Mays? The ye ‘ole magic 8-ball says chances are looking good. Mays released a final top three from which he is making his decision that included UGA as well as Clemson and Ohio State. It looks like the Buckeyes are likely on the outside looking in, though, as this appears to be a very close two-horse race between the Bulldogs and Tigers. But I like Georgia here. The No. 16 player in the country plans to sign during the early signing period on Wednesday, Dec. 20th at 2:30 p.m. from his high school, and he also is planning to enroll early.

JAMAREE SALYER

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: OL – No. 1 OG

HT, WT: 6 foot 4, and 342 lbs

SCHOOL: Pace Academy

CITY, STATE: Atlanta, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes, offered on 05/07/2015

# OFFERS: 29

NEWS & NOTES: Salyer is another talented Peach State offensive lineman in the 2018 class. He is the No. 1 OG overall and the No. 3 player from the state of Georgia, No. 10 overall nationally. Many analysts consider him a generational type talent on the O-line. He has held an offer from Georgia for over 2 years.

Since September, I have mentioned that it looked like it was a Georgia vs. Clemson battle for Salyer, and in a number of interviews, he has confirmed that his top two schools are indeed the Bulldogs and the Tigers. So how much of a battle is it for Salyer between the Tigers an the Bulldogs?

As of right now, I think Georgia is a heavy favorite to land Salyer. He has visited UGA at least three times this fall which included the Bulldogs’ season opener versus Appalachian State on Sept. 2nd and again on Sept. 23rd for the Mississippi State game. He was back in Athens for the Bulldogs’ Nov. 4th game versus South Carolina on an unofficial visit, and he is also coming off an official visit to UGA over the weekend on Dec. 15th. Salyer plans to announce his decision and sign his LOI during the early signing period on Wednesday, Dec. 20th at between 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. ET. He is not an early enrollee.
