Have we discussed Maurice Smith the Bama graduate that is transferring out? I would think Kirby would snap him up if he had value to add, having coached him over there.

  2. RumRunnerDoogie

1mandawgpack crowder has the build of a mcfadden (not saying hes as good as him)

  3. 1mandawgpack

Crowder appears to be the forgotten man again with Holyfield and the late qualifier now on campus. I like our depth at RB and think that all of them are good enough to provide quality minutes behind Nick and Sony.

  4. WalktheDawg Whisky

Frankly Well just because a bunch of 18 year old snowflakes screw up and are not compelled to handle the truth..does not make it right… At 18 you are legally an adult.. act it or pay the price.. …

  5. MMCSDAWG

Thst is awesome! I love seeing the faces of the Camyers. The new camera is the bomb. Thanks Greg

  6. rugbydawg79

Greg Poole Who is #87  and who is #30  can’t find either one on roster – great pictures and Ledbetter #13 looks genuine as well –DGD’s

  7. Panic Fan

RumRunnerDoogie Panic Fan MMCSDAWG No rum but plenty of distilleries  around here for other hard libations!

  8. DawgLink

The Camp Sunshine event is amazing. The effort that the Dawgs give is immeasurable to the children battling very serious health challenges. It warms my heart and soul knowing that my team knows how to be classy.
    Go Dawgs

  9. SonOfHenry

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG I was actually going to ask what you guys thought about Solomon. I went to high school there and my parents both work for the school system and interact with him regularly. I hear what they have to say, but haven’t heard what recruiting folks think.

  10. Greg Poole

Kirby Was there – as it turns out his brother was a camper there when he had leukemia – so he is very interested in the camp

  12. Greg Poole

dsw61  I had a convo with Jake Reuse about that this afternoon. Our conclusion was that we hoped the strategy worked.

  13. Greg Poole

Just got back from Camp Sunshine. Photos later. I asked Sony about his recent horseback experience and if he learned that you can’t switch them off.

  14. 66DAWGnNC

You think Kirby may be keeping up the “cootie ship” tradition? While it may help with Gibbs, I just don’t see Kirby taking a kid in hopes to get a better one. Too many other players out there. I guess we will know in a couple of years.

  15. RumRunnerDoogie

WalktheDawg Whisky  BenKellam MMCSDAWG mauger and langley…granted that worked out great for the offer lol

  16. Frankly

    godawgs678 AlphaDawg
Age and maturity are two completely separate realities.  It’s not an excuse to a say he is a child.  He is still going to suffer the consequences of his actions.  Of course they is certainly no shortage 18 year old males in Athens making bad decisions that won’t be in the headlines because they aren’t on the UGA football team.

  17. godawgs678

AlphaDawg I realize that being football players is a brotherhood. And I love Rennie. But at some point, you’ve got to stop making excuses for these men. Chad is not a child. Once you’re 18 and old enough to join the military, the “child” tag needs to go away. This guy made bad decision after bad decision. This lies on him and is his responsibility to figure out a way to turn his life around. And he can only blame himself for the reputation he now has. And I’m off my soap box…

  18. RumRunnerDoogie

MMCSDAWG RumRunnerDoogie ive finally gotten a taste for ales and dark beers when im just loafing around. but come party time bring on the rum 😉

  19. MMCSDAWG

RumRunnerDoogie MMCSDAWG I hear ya…  i used to drink a LOT of Crown, but now I’m pretty much down to the lighter stuff most of the time, I will have a single bourbon once in a while, but mostly just beer and I like craft beers!

  20. AlphaDawg

MMCSDAWG AlphaDawg dsw61 I just don’t see Kirby going after him if something wasn’t also in his favor. Guess we’ll find out sooner than later!

  21. MMCSDAWG

AlphaDawg dsw61 Lot closer than he and Nigel…  At least it sounds that way!  This J.R. kid might surprise us all, remember, he will be 3-4 yrs older than the freshman coming in 2017 and much more mature and developed….

  22. MMCSDAWG

BenKellam RumRunnerDoogie Right, if the kid can hit, he might be our next ST’s super star and believe it or not, that is important.  That kind of speed can’t be coached.

  23. dsw61

Excerpt from the following Bleacher Report article http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2201844-meet-deangelo-gibbs-college-football-recruitings-next-big-thing

—–Around five years ago, DeAngelo’s parents started an annual tradition by sending him to Dallas for the summer to stay with his uncle Jake, who spent the majority of his 12-year NFL career with the Vikings as part of a dynamic receiving trio with Cris Carter and Randy Moss.
“As he got older and started coming down here (Dallas) every summer and he started working with me, you could see the football side of him come out more,” Reed said. “We didn’t do basketball because I’m a football guy and we’re a football family. You could start to see his talent come out more when he was with us.”
Jake—who still refers to DeAngelo as “Papa,” a name which he gave him when he was very young—would take him and his son, J.R., through a series of daily workouts led by trainers and former NFL players Omar Stoutmire, George Adams and Clay Mack. These workouts also featured some of the top prep players in Texas, such as Adams’ son—current LSU safety and former 5-star recruit http://247sports.com/Player/Jamal-Adams-13171?Institution=21276—and http://247sports.com/Player/JR-Reed-24696., who enrolled at Tulsa last month.—-

  24. BenKellam

RumRunnerDoogie BenKellam Oh I definitely wasn’t complaining about adding him. I like it. He’s tall and apparently fast and if he helps us land a stud that’s just even better. We could potentially have a terrifying secondary in a few years time if this class pans out like expected.

  25. RumRunnerDoogie

BenKellam RumRunnerDoogie yea but no reason to not have more depth or ST players

  26. BenKellam

RumRunnerDoogie Our secondary is probably the area I’m least worried about this year on defense.

  27. dsw61

MMCSDAWG BenKellam If this helps with Gibbs, I like it; especially when there is chatter that Tennessee is possibly pulling some shenanigans with his recruitment.

  28. AlphaDawg

dsw61 MMCSDAWG Greg Poole HC is one of the best DB coaches in the nation or play for a inbred leprechaun gorilla with a buzz cut

  29. WalktheDawg Whisky

dsw61 Dang…The Vols have instituted involuntary servitude in their recruiting tools…..

  30. Bulldawg36

Clay’s spot will be pretty easy to fill, considering he never played a down for UGA

  31. MMCSDAWG

BenKellam MMCSDAWG I don’t believe kirby would take him this way without some sort of deal being struck behind the scenes!  Let’s hope!  I honestly don’t like the precedent though.

  32. BahitsDawg

dsw61 MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Does Tennessee have any slots left after all the 3* committments?

  33. BenKellam

MMCSDAWG BenKellam Fine I guess I’ll take it…but only if his cousin comes along too.

  34. MMCSDAWG

dsw61 MMCSDAWG Greg Poole They will say anything!  Let’s just wait and see what happens.  I am really looking forward to playing them in our house this year!

  35. dsw61

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Some Tennessee fans have been saying that Georgia has “no shot” at landing Gibbs. There have been hints on some of the Tennessee boards that the Tennessee staff has done something to make it hard for Gibbs to turn down Tennessee. This is going to be an interesting recruiting battle.

  36. WalktheDawg Whisky

Greg Poole already trying to do away with the tracks on the East end…Actually I thought they had enclosed more of the East EZ by the 1981 Season…

  37. dsw61

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Given Georgia’s abysmal 3rd down conversion rate last year, the punt coverage team got on the field a lot.

  38. dsw61

MMCSDAWG Greg Poole Lots of ways players can contribute on a team in a meaningful manner; including Special Teams and Scout Team.

  39. MMCSDAWG

dsw61 That’s the big story with this transfer we accepted today!  Come on down Mr. Gibbs!

  40. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Something tells me this has to be part of a package deal…  Otherwise I don’t believe we offer this kid a scholly right now.  I hope that’s the case anyway.  Kid has speed, but not sure about his particular skill sets.

  41. Greg Poole

So candy bars are open season at WallyWorld – good to know when I crave some chocolate .

  42. Bulldawg36

A tall DB…to provide depth. May or may not ever play for UGA but Kirby seen something in the fella.

  43. dsw61

Greg Poole BroDawg Right…and this: Reed is the son of former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jake Reed.

  44. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie the army has low standards##### kidding!! dont spam me or ban me!

  45. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole AlphaDawg Walmart actually has a policy to not prosecute anyone shoplifting something under $25. lol but I get your point

  46. Greg Poole

AlphaDawg I’m sure it is a misdemeanor, but when you have an unresolved felony small thing get amplified. Go to Walmart and let them spot you ripping off a pack of gum and see if you don’t get arrested.

  47. Greg Poole

RumRunnerDoogie I thing I learned from a smart person many years ago (not that it necessarily applies in the case) – never publically admit to a crime.

  48. AlphaDawg

Greg Poole Is it just me or does this seem a little excessive for headphones? Put out an arrest for $30 headphones? I didn’t even know you could do that.

  49. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie u enjoyed the kush and schrooms huh?# i probably would of been the one guy to get arrested on the tracks lol

  50. RumRunnerDoogie

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie converted 1981 ive heard so many stories of the “track people” and damn do they sound like my kind of people and party hahaha

  51. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole RumRunnerDoogie converted 1981 Now that was a DAWG walk!  Got goose bumps listening to Erk.

  52. Greg Poole

    On Clay:
According to the incident report, a university student placed a pair of headphones down next to his phone and water bottle on the bleachers closest to the front of the court. Upon returning, the victim noticed his headphones were missing and reported them stolen.
An officer was able to identify Clay as the responsible party and got a judge to take a warrant out for his arrest for misdemeanor theft by taking. The officer contacted Clay over the phone and informed him of the warrant on Wednesday and gave him the number to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division so he could settle it.

Greg Poole converted 1981 now if only u posted a picture of the track people..ohh lawwwddd they will swarm like bees

  54. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole Looking back at this class, it really is an amazing group.  We only got to #7 on 247, but that was when we had 21 (how many have we added after that?  Herrien, Catalina, some pwos?) while the others ahead of us had to have 26, 29, 25, 25, 25(fsfreeshoes – now down to 23),  and Bama at 24.

I really like the quality we have and they are going to shine.

  55. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole We need a new ranking of the last class when the season starts.

How many teams that had a higher rank ahead of us, end up losing several players and would have been below us?

I guess the real final ranking will be how the class performs over the next few years.  GO DAWGS!!!!

  56. BahitsDawg

Bulldawg36 Macon isn’t so bad.  Just make sure you have a full tank and a healthy car.  Don’t wonder into areas on foot that look sketchy.

    You can also CC.

  57. BahitsDawg

Greg Poole All those great names!  I loved watching Edwards, Hines and the crew.  Edwards was such a great slashing back.

  58. Bulldawg36

Thanks for the info. I visited warm springs yesterday. It’s pretty nice. I ate at that restaurant with the southern food buffett. The bullouch I think?

  59. Doc R

Bulldawg36 don’t go around Macon mall as they were ruling over it way back when I lived there—haven’t been in 20 years but that was a bad area that should not have been

  60. Bulldawg36

That’s true they’re gangs every where. But in some parts of Macon they said the gangs were real bad. I’ve never been there so I’m not sure it’s true

  61. MMCSDAWG

BenKellam MMCSDAWG  Right!   Todd gave the right answer though… lol!  He know’s who is signing the check!

  62. BenKellam

MMCSDAWG I’m surprised the haven’t shot brees in the streets of New Orleans yet for saying that Campbells gumbo is worth eating.

  63. Greg Poole

BenKellam – To kick a kid off of a team and then restrict his options would be the height of paternalism (to use a kind term). The idea of restricting transfers is rooted in combating tampering.

I imagine that the author didn’t think that through.

  64. Bulldawg36

People on the Georgia city data forum have said that their are a bunch of gangs in Macon

  65. rugbydawg79

1mandawgpack You might be thinking about Roundtree whose Father is a Sheriff in Augusta – but I am with you.

  66. Bulldawg36

I don’t think I will ever visit Macon from the scary things I’ve heard. But I will pray for ya dawg daddy!!!!

  67. rugbydawg79

Greg Poole Bulldawg36 Didn’t his Father play for Tech ?  I know we love to put down our Rivals but you would think after the BB gun deal he would know better — I did a lot of stupid stuff too – hope this gives him a wake up call.

  68. ZippyMorocco

    8MMCSDAWG Greg Poole
I will never forget that game. My son played at Marshall that day, and I stopped at a motel in TN. I turned on the TV hust before Bobo hit Corey Allen to tie the game.

  69. BenKellam

Greg Poole Do coaches really get no say in where a player ends up if that player gets kicked off the team? That Dawgsports article seems to think otherwise.

  70. BenKellam

1mandawgpack I mean seriously. We don’t want someone that dumb on our team. Who steals apple headphones anyway. They’re terrible and like 20 bucks.

  71. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Alright boss…  That’s about as much Dawg Porn as I can stand in one day!!!  Might have a stroke or something.  Man I miss those days, watching TV but listening to Larry!

  72. Greg Poole

DawgDaddy The ‘peers’ thing doesn’t make much sense to me. I understand the comparison but historical measure don’t mean much in CFB where rosters are constantly changing.

  73. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG >> He is a very good writer and a walking encyclopedia of UGA lore. We are friends, as well, if you had not guessed.

  74. Greg Poole

Just got a text from my SiL – he and his son riding in car, heard about Clay on radio. Son (4rd grader) says without sarcasm “He’ll probably play for Auburn now.”

  75. Reddawg13

Greg Poole We have some Russians join us every year for Drinko de Mayo and they are a hoot!

  76. Reddawg13

Greg Poole I say we offer him! He beat the train and maintained balance when he should have fallen!

  77. 1mandawgpack

With the limited interaction that the coaches can have with players during the summer, it’s really time for some leadership to take control of the situation in Athens.  We really need one or more of the more influential players on the team to call a players only meeting and lay down the law that any further arrests won’t be tolerated as it’s becoming a major distraction and putting us in a position that jeopardizes winning games (speaking solely to the lack of DL depth as a result of suspensions early in the season).

  78. Reddawg13

1mandawgpack It is sad, I wish the kids would just think sometime. His Dad was a good player too, played at GT and then played in the pros for a while, he could have got some headphones legally.

  79. Reddawg13

Christopher Hinton is quick and fast for a big guy, his competition may be lacking but his pedigree isn’t. And I really like Deon Jackson and he is in state. Guess he will have to wait and see what the other backs we are offering do first.

  80. 1mandawgpack

The Clay situation is sad.  I somewhat get and understand the BB gun incident with him and Rochester as I did far more stupid things and never got caught.  However, the stealing is just plain stupid on his part.  I think I remember him being from a good family with active parents (isn’t his father in law enforcement) and usually that helps instill values where things like this don’t happen.

Oh well, the only silver lining is that it opens up another scholarship spot for this ridiculous class of DBs that the coaches are heavily recruiting in 2017.

  81. 1mandawgpack

Greg Poole  I had that happen to me one time (I was the only person on the flight).  I think I was at one of the smaller airports in NC (Raleigh or Winston Salem) and it was a late flight that was literally just getting the plane back to Atlanta and I was the only one on board.  It was very strange, but I got treated like a king for 1 hour.

  82. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole MMCSDAWG If he’s in town and not moving, I suspect he might show up!  I hope so too, it is a great cause and I really enjoy the photos with the campers and the players!

  83. Greg Poole

MMCSDAWG IDK – this is vacation time. I was basing my guess on this being a CMR event that they kinda can’t stop doing but CKS may send someone else. Hope not – some pics to publish would be nice.

  84. AlphaDawg

dsw61 BTW, I’m not saying a 5star recruit can act like this, re-reading it kind of sounds that way. I’m just saying sometimes coaches will find alternatives for very needed athletes, where Clay didn’t seem to understand he had no fighting power.

  85. AlphaDawg

dsw61 Clay didn’t have the leverage to be acting like this. You’re a 3star recruit, Freshman, never played a down of college ball, Not a Kirby recruit, 2 arrests in a few months. Even if he wanted he has no reason to try and protect you. All Kirby sees is, Free scholarship for a guy I want who isn’t going to be a dummy and give me all these problems.

  86. DawgDaddy

Greg Poole Like my daddy used to say, ” I hope this knocks some sense into him.”

  87. MMCSDAWG

Greg Poole Still representing the “G”!  DGD and I hope he rushes for 2000 this year!

  88. dsw61

Greg Poole dsw61 I will never understand kids like Clay. It makes no sense to me. There is no logic in what he did.

  89. dsw61

Was reading some of coach Bill Walsh’s material, and found some of his comments on the “play-action pass” could be helpful in the UNC game. Bill says that inexperienced linebackers are the most susceptible to the “play-action pass”. UNC lost two senior starting LBs. They’re current LBs lack experience. It will be interesting if Chaney will go more play-action from under center or go the “run-pass” option from the shotgun.

  90. dsw61

Glad Kirby dismissed Chad Clay. If it’s true he stole the $30 Apple head phones; my guess is this isn’t the first time he’s stolen something…just the first time he’s been caught. We were warned on here during his recruitment that he had character issues. Now we know.

  91. Greg Poole

Camp Sunshine this afternoon. Who thinks that Coach Smart will put in an appearance? My guess is, no. My guess is that an admin person will represent the coach.

  92. Greg Poole

Hobnailboot aka RobG  >>  Theft charge on top of the stupid BB gun stuff – see ya.
