UGA Recruiting Daily Thread

After taking 7 defensive backs in the 2017 recruiting class, how many will the Georgia staff take in 2018? The Bulldogs already have Hapeville Charter CB Chris Smith and Miami-Northwestern safety Rachad Wildgoose, Jr. committed. UGA is also heavily favored to land Trinity Christian Academy safety Tyrique Johnson; so, it makes sense that if they take a fourth DB in 2018 and perhaps a fifth that it would be a CB. And if the staff just takes 4 DBs this cycle, they will likely look to recruit CB heavy in the 2019 cycle. Featured on Bulldawg Illustrated today are two 2018 and two 2019 CB prospects that include Jemaurian Jones, Christian Tutt, Andrew Booth, and Jalen Perry.

CITY, STATE: Brookhaven, MS

STATUS: Undeclared

NEWS & NOTES: Jones isn’t a name a lot of Dawg fans have heard of because he doesn’t get as much pub as some of the DBs from Florida, Georgia, and Texas, but the Brookhaven, MS cornerback has a number of offers from major FBS programs including Georgia. Jones put UGA in his top 10 he released on June 24th and will make his decision by December 31st. However, it looks like he has decided to make his decision from Miss State, Ole Miss, and UCLA, a top three he released on July 25th.

CHRISTIAN TUTT

CLASS: 2018

POSITION: DB – No. 24 CB

HT, WT: 5 foot 10.5, and 193 lbs

SCHOOL: Thomson High School

CITY, STATE: Thomson, GA

STATUS: Undeclared

UGA OFFER: Yes.

# OFFERS: 35

NEWS & NOTES: Questions have surrounded Tutt and whether or not Georgia has still been recruiting him. He did visit the Dogs back on April 8th and reports are that the coaching staff is still maintaining an open line of communication with him. Tutt’s recruiting is all over the place at the moment, and the Dogs are still not out of this race just yet. However, after his visit to Nebraska in June, he is considered a Cornhusker lean.

Tutt and Thompson have started 2-0 on the year earning wins over Laney and Effingham County on the road. Tutt and the Bulldogs return home to host a good Jefferson team this Friday on September 1st.

NEWS & NOTES: The Bulldogs offered Booth on July 28th. The 2019 DB prospect and Archer have opened with two wins on the season against Brookwood and Peachtree Ridge. It’s been a tough 24 hours for the Archer Tigers family as they lost one of their own, graduate Nick Blakely who was a 19-year-old sophomore at Stetson and tragically collapsed and died in practice on Monday. They are off this weekend and will hit the road back on September 8th to take on Mill Creek.
