[break] [break] “We were one score away from a pretty good day,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “We have to remember that 72 or 73 is a really good score. We’ll look to build on the positives of today and improve tomorrow.”
[break] [break] In the individual field, Carbajo Ré is tied for 13th, Alexander and Lee are tied for 38th, Skinner is tied for 67th and Rocio Sanchez Lobato, who shot 82, is tied 75th.
[break] [break] “I was pleased that Manuela was able to continue her good play coming off her win at the Lady Bulldog Individual last weekend,” Brewer said. “I was proud of Amira today, too. She wasn’t hitting it well by her standards, but she gutted it out and found a way to give us a very solid score.”
[break] [break] No. 4 Arkansas and Iowa State’s Chonlada Chayanun grabbed the first-round team and individual leads. The Razorbacks fired a 2-over 290, a shot better than Kent State. Chayanun’s 6-under gave her a three-stroke edge over Gaby Lopez of Arkansas.
