Georgia Men’s Golf Team Clubs Are Off the Mark in Round One

The Georgia men’s golf team clubs were off the mark in round one of the Linger Longer Invitational landing the 2nd-ranked Bulldogs in 11th place thirteen strokes off first place Purdue.
 
 
On Sunday at Great Waters Golf Course at Reynolds Plantation, the Bulldogs posted a round of 2-over-par 290. Purdue has the team lead after shooting a 11-under 277 in the first round.
 
 
Senior Lee McCoy paced the Bulldogs on Sunday, as he fired a 2-under 70. Fellow senior Sepp Straka was next with a 1-under 71. Georgia also got a 2-over 74 from sophomore Zach Healy and a 3-over 75 from junior Greyson Sigg. Freshman Jack Larkin Jr. had Georgia’s non-counting score of 5-over 77.
 
 
Competing as an individual, freshman Tye Waller completed his round with an even-par 72. The Bulldogs’ other individual competitor, Matthew Beringer, shot 11-over 83.
 
 
McCoy is tied for 14th individually, trailing Matthew Perrine of Baylor and Purdue’s Luis Fernando Barco by five shots. Straka is among the players tied for 22nd individually.
 
 
The Linger Longer Invitational will continue Monday and conclude on Tuesday. Monday’s round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com.
