Georgia golfer Lee McCoy received two honors on Thursday as he was named First-Team All-Southeastern Conference by the league office and to the United States team for the 2015 Pan American Games. [su_spacer size=”40″] McCoy was named First-Team All-SEC for the first time in his career. McCoy is the 42nd Bulldog to earn First-Team All-SEC distinction. Under Coach Chris Haack, the Bulldogs have had at least one First-Team pick in 17 out of 19 seasons. [su_spacer size=”40″] The inaugural golf portion of the Pan Am Games will take place July 16-19 on the South Course at Angus Glen Golf Club in Toronto. [su_spacer size=”40″] McCoy, a junior from Clarkesville, Ga., stands second in the SEC with a scoring average of 69.55. McCoy is rated third in the World Amateur Golf Rankings as well as fourth and fifth in the Golfweek/Sagarin and GolfStat collegiate polls, respectively. McCoy won consecutive tournaments earlier this year, becoming the first Georgia player to accomplish that feat. McCoy has four wins overall this season, tying the school record set by Chris Kirk in 2006-07 and matched by Russell Henley in 2009-10. [su_spacer size=”40″] McCoy was named to the United States Palmer Cup Team that will compete June 12-14 in Illinois and he is one of the 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award. [su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia will receive its NCAA Regional assignment on Monday. The sites are Noblesville, Ind.; Chapel Hill, N.C.; San Diego, Calif.; Lubbock, Texas; Bremerton, Wash.; and New Haven, Conn. The regionals will be held May 14-16, with the top five teams from each regional making up the 30-team field for the NCAA Championships May 29-June 3 in Bradenton, Fla.
