MEN’S GOLF: After two rounds of play, Bulldogs in Seventh at The Carmel Cup

The No. 25-ranked University of Georgia men’s golf team remained in seventh place on Saturday after two rounds of The Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

 
The Bulldogs fired a 4-under 356 on the par-72, 6,828-yard layout to move to 3-under 717 for the tournament. Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 32-under 688, followed by Texas Tech at 29-under 691.
 
 
Freshman Davis Thompson continued to set the pace for the Bulldogs as he signed for a 4-under 68 on Saturday. Thompson stands 12th individually at 6-under 138, eight off the standard set by Texas Tech’s Hurly Long (14-under 130).
 
 
Senior Zach Healy is 15th at 4-under 140 after notching a 3-under 69 in the second round. Sophomore Spencer Ralston also signed for a 3-under 69 Saturday to move to 3-under 141.
 
 
Sophomore Trevor Phillips fired a 3-over 75 and stands at 5-over 149, while sophomore Will Chandler moved to 6-over 150 with a 4-over 76. Junior David Mackey, who was unable to play Friday due to illness, signed for a 3-over 75 in his first round of the season.
