MEN’S GOLF: Sepp Straka Eliminated from US Amateur

Georgia golfer Sepp Straka’s run at the 2015 U.S. Amateur Championship came to an end Thursday morning.

Straka, a senior for the Bulldogs, dropped a 6&5 decision to Derek Bard on Thursday at Olympia Fields Country Club.

Straka won the first hole, but Bard answered by taking Nos. 4-6, 8-9 and 12-13.

Straka was the final Bulldog in the tournament as fellow senior Lee McCoy and sophomore Zach Healy were eliminated earlier.

The Bulldogs will begin their 2015-16 season by playing in The Carmel Cup in Pebble Beach, Calif., Sept. 4-6. McCoy will miss that event as he will be playing for the U.S. Walker Cup Team in Lancashire, England, Sept. 12-13.
