The No. 5-ranked Georgia women’s golf team shot 17-over 301 in Friday’s opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, placing the Bulldogs in 12th place in the field.

“No one really got it going to get that excitement or momentum going for us today,” head coach Josh Brewer said. “You’re going to have those days when everyone doesn’t play well. Today was one of those days for us, but we have two more days to keep going. We just have to play like we know we’re capable of playing, and we’ll move up the leaderboard.”

Harang Lee led Georgia on the day with a 2-over 73. The Bulldogs other counting rounds were a 74 from Bailey Tardy, a 76 from Rinko Mitsunaga and a 78, the score signed for by both Manuela Carbajo Ré and Mary Ellen Shuman.

No. 4 Alabama grabbed the first-round lead afternoon shooting 6-under 278. The Crimson Tide owns a three-shot lead over Virginia. Between Alabama and Georgia are Virginia at 281, Vanderbilt at 282, No. 3 Arkansas at 289, North Carolina at 290, No. 10 Oklahoma State at 292, No. 21 Tennessee at 295, Auburn at 296, No. 1 Southern Cal at 297, No. 2 Duke at 299, Wake Forest at 300 and the Bulldogs at 301.
