Recently graduated Georgia women’s golf players Sammi Lee and Mary Ellen Shuman along with rising junior Bailey Tardy advanced past stroke play in the USGA Women’s Amateur Four Ball Championships Sunday at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club.

Sixty-four teams of two golfers made up the stroke-play field that completed 36 holes, starting on Saturday and concluding Sunday evening. The top-32 teams qualify to advance to Match Play Round of 32, which starts Monday.

Tardy played alongside Arizona State alum Monica Vaughn, while Lee and Shuman paired up together. Vaughn is fresh off winning the NCAA Individual Title as she led the Sun Devils to their NCAA-leading eighth national championship.

The duo of Tardy and Vaughn dazzled as they finished one-shot off the trio of leaders and 11-under par on the 72-par, 6,298-yard course. They tallied 11 birdies including seven on Sunday for a final card of 68-65—133.

Lee paired with Shuman to fire a 71-68—139 card and finish tied for 19th-place. After compiling just one birdie on Saturday, the twosome collected five on Sunday to secure their spot in the next round.

Also in the field was Georgia signee Elisa Yang out of Wesleyan in Peachtree Corners, Ga. Yang played with Jenny Bae out of Collins Hill High School in Suwanee. Yang and Bae shot a 72-71—143 to cap a 1-under par performance. They finished one shot shy of the qualifying mark. Three other teams joined Yang and Bae as the first ones to miss the cut with the same score.

After the first day of Match Play on Monday, Tuesday features the Round of 16, before the tournament concludes on Wednesday. Tee times have not yet been released.
