For the second consecutive week, University of Georgia senior gymnast Sabrina Vega has been recognized as Southeastern Conference Specialist of the Week. This week she shares the honor with Sophia Carter of the University of Arkansas, it was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

In Georgia’s tight road contest at Arkansas, the Carmel, New York native scored her fourth 9.950 of the season on floor. She also stuck a 9.925 on beam, matching her season-high marks on both apparatuses. Additionally, Vega’s performances earned her the event titles for beam and floor, her second and fourth crowns of her senior campaign on the respective events.

Vega ranks sixth nationally on floor, and third in the SEC, with an average of 9.931.

Vega and the GymDogs will host their first tri-meet in Stegeman Coliseum since 2001 on Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14. Ball State and Eastern Michigan will be in Athens with competition beginning at 7 p.m.
