Senior Gymdog Rachel Schick was named SEC Specialist of the Week by the conference office Tuesday morning.

The Rancho Cucamonga, California native had arguably the best weekend of her career, winning three event titles in four routines while setting a new career high on bars and two new career highs on beam.

Schick helped Georgia to its biggest meet-to-meet improvement since 1988 with a 3.2-point jump at Auburn by taking the beam event title with a then-career-best 9.9. She also had a strong performance on the uneven bars in the conference road win, posting a 9.875 to help Georgia to a 196.800-196.075 victory.

The senior biological sciences major then continued her record-breaking stretch by winning two event titles on Monday in Georgia’s home opener against NC State, setting new career highs on bars (9.925) and beam (9.925).

A 2016 All-SEC honoree, this is the first weekly SEC award for Schick in her career.

The Gymdogs return to action on Friday as they host the Arkansas Razorbacks at 7 p.m. in the team’s annual blackout meet.
