The No. 13 Georgia gymnastics team (3-3, 3-2 SEC) upset No. 6 Kentucky (5-3, 2-3) with a final score of 196.150-195.550 inside of Memorial Coliseum on Friday night.

The GymDogs won event titles on vault, bars, and floor, with Lauren Johnson, Marissa Oakley, and Sydney Snead earning the honors.

“It feels great to improve our road score and bring home the win,” head coach Courtney Kupets Carter said. “We still have a lot of work to do on the road but there were several highlights. Lauren Johnson has done a fantastic job of continuing to upgrade and clean up her events.  She had two stuck landings, which we’ve really been asking them to work on. We had quality routines but there were some uncharacteristic things tonight that we need to take home and work on.”

The GymDogs started strong on bars, posting their highest road score for the event with a 49.225. Senior Lauren Johnson scored a season high 9.825.  Freshman Marissa Oakley matched her career high 9.9 for the event, before senior Natalie Vaculik posted a season high 9.875.  Sydney Snead and Rachel Dickson closed the event with scores of 9.850 and 9.750, respectively.

Georgia posted a 48.900 on vault.  Johnson and Snead matched their season high scores after posting a 9.900 and 9.850 to end the event.

Snead led the GymDogs on floor with a 9.900.  Dickson, Sabrina Vega, and Vivi Babalis each contributed scores of 9.825, while Jasmine Arnold scored a 9.750 for a team total of 49.125 for the event.  The score marks another high while the GymDogs are away from Stegeman Coliseum.

Georgia posted a 48.900 on beam to close competition.  Hayley Sanders performed on beam for the first time this season.  Vivi Babalis led the GymDogs with a 9.875.  Vega and Snead followed closely with scores of 9.850 and 9.800.

Georgia returns home to Stegeman Coliseum on Friday, February 16 to face the Florida Gators on the SEC Network at 7 p.m.
