The Gymdogs welcome Madison McPherson to the Georgia gymnastics 2017 recruiting class.

McPherson is the fifth and final member of the 2017 class and joins Samantha Durante, Ashley Foss, Marissa Oakley and Emily Schild. She comes to UGA after training at Georgia Elite Gymnastics under Pete Arenas, Cassidy Bernstein, Amber Stiles, Doug McAvinn and John Young.

University of Georgia gymnastics head coach Danna Durante announced the addition of Madison McPherson on Tuesday afternoon:

“Madison is a terrific fit for our program; she is not only strong academically and athletically but is also a person of great character,” said Durante. “We’re excited for her to join our family. She’s an Athens native who has always dreamed of being a part of the Gymdog program. She’ll bring strong vault and floor with potential to contribute in all areas within our program.”

A native of Bishop, Georgia, McPherson won the vault championship at the 2017 USA Gymnastics Invitational while also taking third in the all-around. The 2015 Georgia state bar champion, she was a top 10 all-around finisher at the Georgia Level 10 State Championships in each of the past three years. A three-time Region 8 Level 10 Championships qualifier, McPherson also finished second in the all-around at the 2017 Elevate the Stage Gymnastics Invitational.

“Growing up in Athens, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many Gymdog meets,” McPherson said. “The atmosphere is something you can’t find anywhere else. Competing in Stegeman Coliseum has always been a dream of mine and I couldn’t be more excited!”
