GYMNASTICS: 2016 Schedule Announced

[su_spacer size=”20″] The Georgia gymnastics team will take on all six of the NCAA Super Six teams from last season, including home meets against Oklahoma, Florida, Stanford, and Auburn, as the Gymdogs’ 2016 schedule was released Thursday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia opens the season Jan. 9 at Michigan, while the home opener is slated for Monday, Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) vs. Stanford.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “We love the opportunities that this year’s schedule will bring,” said head coach Danna Durante. “Facing top teams both at home and on the road promises to be a great experience for our athletes. Four of our five home meets are against teams that were in the Super Six last season and we’re pleased to host an NCAA Regional. It will be an exciting season in Stegeman Coliseum and can’t wait to see our fans in January.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia’s meets against Arkansas (Jan. 15), Florida (Feb. 5) and Alabama (Feb. 26) will air live on the SEC Network.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Gymdogs’ annual Sneak Peek event will be held Friday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Center.
[su_spacer size=”40”] Other notable aspects of the Georgia schedule:

[su_spacer size=”40″] **Georgia will face nine of the other 11 teams that competed in the NCAA Championships last season.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The Gymdogs’ home SEC schedule includes Florida, LSU and Auburn. UGA will travel to Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky and Alabama.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The LSU meet will serve as the annual Alumni Meet.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **Georgia’s meets against LSU and Auburn will air tape delayed on the SEC Network. Both can be seen live on WatchESPN.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **The SEC Championship will be held March 19 in Little Rock, Ark. It was last held there in 2013.
[su_spacer size=”40″] **It was previously announced that Georgia will serve as one of six host sites for an NCAA Gymnastics Regional in 2016. The competition will be held at Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday, April 2, and teams and all-around competitors advancing out of the regional championships will compete at the NCAA Championships in Forth Worth, Texas, April 15-17.
