The Georgia soccer team is set to kick off the 2016 spring season with a trip to Conyers, Georgia to face Georgia State at 7 p.m. ET at the RYSA Revolution Soccerplex.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to play our first spring game against Georgia State,” head coach Billy Lesesne said. “This will give players a chance to expand on previous roles as well as provide a platform for players without as much experience to step in and make meaningful contributions. This spring we have continued to work on our team development in the area of purposeful possession and collective team defending. It will be exciting to gauge our progress in these areas against a good level of competition.”

The Bulldogs and Panthers last squared off in 2011, a contest that Georgia won 4-1. Georgia State is coming off an 11-6-4 season in 2015. The Panthers advanced to the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Championship before falling to South Alabama. Georgia is 12-0-2 all-time in games played against the Panthers.

Georgia is coming off a 5-12-1 campaign that saw the Bulldogs earn a bid to the 2015 SEC Tournament in exciting fashion. UGA went on the road defeating Vanderbilt and No. 16 Auburn to secure its bid to Orange Beach.

Earlier this month, Lesesne announced the addition of four signees to the Georgia soccer program. The incoming class will join the team in the fall and add to a team that returns 13 players who started multiple games last season.
