Four members of the Georgia soccer team have been named to the Southeastern Conference Preseason Watch List announced Wednesday by the conference office. Since 2011, the SEC has named a watch list in lieu of selecting preseason all-conference teams.
Senior Sydney Shultis and sophomores Kayla Bruster, Caroline Chipman, and Reagan Glisson join 55 other SEC players on this year’s watch list.
As the returner with the most shots (31) taken last season, Shultis is a familiar face of Georgia’s attack. After battling injury, the McDonough, Georgia native will be a main contributor on Georgia’s offensive front.
As a freshman, Glisson started 16 games in 2017. She scored two goals and dished out four assists. The Savannah, Georgia native took 30 shots with 14 on target.
Both natives of Atlanta, Bruster and Chipman each started in 15 games on defense in their first season as Bulldogs and will continue to be key voices on Georgia’s backline.
The 2018 season kicks off on Friday, August 17 on the road against Georgetown at a tournament hosted by Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. Georgia will face San Diego on Sunday, August 19 at 11 a.m. in Blacksburg. The home opener for the Bulldogs is scheduled for Friday, August 24 against Indiana at 6 p.m. Admission to the Turner Soccer Complex is free.
