The Georgia soccer team fell 4-0 on Sunday to Oklahoma State (2-1) at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.

The Bulldogs (0-3-1) host Clemson on Friday at 7 p.m. ET to kick off their 2015 home slate. The Tigers (3-0) defeated South Carolina and UNC-Wilmington over the weekend.

Head coach Billy Lesesne looks for his team to bounce back next week.

“It was a very physical and demanding game,” Lesesne said. “To give up a goal in the last minute of the first half was a bit demoralizing. The second-half we just didn’t match their energy and competitiveness. They scored several goals in a short span of time, and we were certainly chasing the game after that.”

The first-half of action was back and forth before Oklahoma State’s Holly Brehmer scored the go-ahead goal in the 43’. Georgia goalkeeper Louise Hogrell attempted to save an Oklahoma State shot but was unable to control the ball. Brehmer was collected the loose ball and put the Cowgirls on the scoreboard.

Oklahoma State scored three more goals during the second-half. The first of which, came again from  Brehmer, who was able to take a deflected save from Hogrell and bury it in the net in the 69’. Seconds later Marlo Zoller put the Cowgirls on the scoreboard again, landing a lob shot from 30 yards out just past Hogrell’s outstretched arms. Courtney Dike added the final goal of the afternoon, putting the Cowgirls up 4-0.

Georgia’s first-half was highlighted by a near-goal from senior forward Andie Fontanetta. The Kennesaw, Georgia native fired a rocket near the top of the box that was barely saved by the Oklahoma State goalkeeper. The Bulldogs were able to possess the ball early, but couldn’t find any success early.

The Bulldogs came out firing in the second-half with two key shots coming in the first seven minutes of the period. Bella Hartley took her best look on goal within the first two minutes of the half, before Sydney Shultis fired a rocket in the 52’ that was barely saved.

The Cowgirls owned the overall shot count 18-8. Corner kicks were tied with each team attempting five. Sophomore goalkeeper Louise Hogrell recorded eight saves in the contest.

The Bulldogs host Clemson next Friday at 7 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex for the 2015 season home opener. The No. 17 Tigers (3-0) are coming off a weekend that saw victories over No. 8 South Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
