Alex Hugo and Cortni Emanuel Named SEC Player, Freshman of Week

[break] Alex Hugo and Cortni Emanuel each earned weekly honors by the Southeastern Conference, it was announced Monday. Hugo was named the SEC Player of the Week, whole Emanuel earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors.

[break] [break] Hugo finished with a .529 batting average after finishing with nine hits, including two doubles, three triples and three home runs. She led the team with 16 RBI over six games. The Olathe, Kan., native finished second on the team with nine runs and also drew four walks. Additionally, she finished with eight extra-base hits and slugged 1.529 and posted an on-base percentage of .619.
[break] [break] Emanuel earned SEC honors after hitting .778 over six games. She led the team with 14 hits and 10 runs, while posting an on-base percentage of .789. Emanuel showed off blazing speed as she finished with 12 stolen bases over six games, stealing three bases in a game twice over the weekend. She also drove in three runs and picked up 15 total bases.

[break] Hugo, Emanuel and the Georgia softball team will be back in action this weekend, Feb. 13-15, when it hosts the Bulldog Invitational at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Ga. The three-day tournament will feature Elon, Troy and SIU-Edwardsville.
