The No. 12 Georgia softball team (37-11, 9-7) fell 4-3 at No. 2 Auburn (43-5, 13-3) after the Tigers hit a walkoff home run in game one on Friday.

The Bulldogs led the entire game, including a 3-1 advantage with two outs in the seventh. Consecutive two-out singles put runners on for the Tigers, as Kasey Cooper hit a no-doubter over right field to seal the win.

Brittany Gray (10-6) took the loss, coming in for relief in the sixth to give up six hits while striking out two. Chelsea Wilkinson started the game, allowing three hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out four.

The Bulldogs put up six hits over Auburn’s Kaylee Carlson (13-0), led by Sydni Emanuel and Cortni Emanuel with two each in the leadoff spots. Alyssa DiCarlo had two RBI on the night after hitting a home run in the third inning.

Georgia put up the game’s first run in the opening frame, loading the bases after back-to-back singles from the Emanuels and a walk to Alex Hugo. Tina Iosefa stepped up to record a RBI, allowing S. Emanuel to score.

DiCarlo increased the lead from there, using her eighth home run of the year to make it 3-0. Hugo also scored on the shot over right field after she reached on a throwing error.

Auburn cut the lead to 3-1 in the next half inning after Tiffany Howard doubled and advanced to third on the throw in the opening at-bat, scoring on a groundout from Emily Carosone. The Tigers wouldn’t allow another Georgia baserunner until the seventh inning on their way to the comeback win.

The series continues on Saturday with a 2 p.m. ET game featured on ESPNU, as Mark Neely and Danielle Lawrie will be on the call.
