Georgia vs Georgia State softball: Freshman Kylie Bass tossed a two-hit shutout on Wednesday in the 12th-ranked Bulldogs 8-0 win in five innings over the Panthers.

Bass (6-2) finished the night holding Georgia State to five runners left on base, as three reached on walk. The Georgia native also tallied a pair of strikeouts against the Panthers.

Four Bulldogs went perfect at the plate with Sydni Emanuel, Alyssa DiCarlo, Cortni Emanuel and Lacey Sumerlin. The night was highlighted with Tina Iosefa hitting her third grand slam of the year, helping Georgia record 13 hits on the night.

Georgia first reached the scoreboard in the second inning, as DiCarlo put up a run on a Katie Worley (10-8) wild pitch. Three more came in the third frame after a Panther error, RBI bunt from Alex Hugo and RBI double from DiCarlo.

Iosefa’s home run sealed the shortened win in the fourth. Prior to the senior’s at-bat, bunt singles from the Emanuel sisters put two on to start the rally before a walk to Hugo put the bases loaded. Iosefa then took a full-count ball over center field for her 17th home run of the year.

Georgia hits the road this weekend, taking on No. 2 Auburn beginning on Friday. Saturday’s game will be aired nationally on ESPNU, sandwiched by showings on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
