SOFTBALL: LSU Takes Game One of Series

Georgia fell short 8-1 in game one of the weekend series against LSU at Jack Turner Stadium in Athens, Georgia.

“It’s disappointing with the outcome, disappointing with the moments that we didn’t win, but we’ll regroup, come back tomorrow, and see if we can’t go get out on top and honor Lu Harris-Champer with a great performance.”

 

 

 

 

The Bulldogs struggled offensively tonight and managed to salvage one run from four hits. The one run came from Jayda Kearney’s home run in the sixth inning.

Madison Kerpics was tallied with the loss tonight in the circle for the Dawgs. Kerpics went five innings and allowed five runs. Britton Rogers came in as relief and went two innings.

In the top of the third LSU struck first with a two-RBI single to put them on the board 2-0.
In the top of the fifth the Tigers loaded the bases. McKenzie Redoutey hit a base clearing double to left field to expand the lead to 5-0.

In the top of the sixth LSU had a pair of solo home run shots to add on two more runs and extend their lead to 7-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jayda Kearney sent a solo shot to left field to put the Dawgs on the board.
In the top of the seventh a bases-loaded walk plated another run for the Tigers and added on one final run for the Tigers making it 8-1.

First pitch for game two is set for 2 p.m at Jack Turner Stadium.
