SOFTBALL: Bulldogs Swept by Florida

The Georgia softball team continues to have a rough go in SEC play with their sixth straight loss, as No. 3 Florida beat the Bulldogs 3-0 on Monday night, sweeping the 3-game series.

 
 
The Gators used a pair of home runs off of Brittany Gray (17-8) to seal the sweep, as Gray allowed four hits and three walks in 5.1 innings pitched. Kylie Bass finished the game, grabbing the last two outs of the contest against the two batters she faced.
 
 
Georgia took two hits off of Kelly Barnhill (15-0) with Cortni Emanuel and Jordan Doggett getting one each. The nation’s leader in ERA, Barnhill struck out 14 and walked one.
 
 
After two scoreless innings, Florida was the first to the scoreboard, as Nicole DeWitt was hit by a pitch to set up a two-run home run for Kayli Kvistad. Then in the sixth, pinch-hitter Chelsea Herndon took a 3-2 ball over the right center wall to put Florida up 3-0.

The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround for a busy week in Athens. Georgia will host Georgia Tech on Wednesday, April 12 at 6 p.m. ET. Admission is free to the game while the first 400 fans receive a free “Wreck Tech” T-shirt and the first 100 students receive free pizza. Fans can also watch on SEC Network+/WatchESPN.
 
 
Following the midweek game, the Bulldogs host the Bulldogs of Mississippi State in a three-game conference series starting on Friday.
