SOFTBALL: Tennessee Evens Series, Final Today

The 15th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs suffered a tough 11-5 loss Saturday afternoon against the No. 12 Tennessee Vols.

Georgia had five hits for five runs on the day. Two of those hits were home runs from Jaiden Fields and Lacey Fincher.

 

 

 

 

Lauren Mathis suffered the loss for the Dawgs. Mathis went two innings in the circle and allowed four runs. Britton Rogers came in as relief and went four innings. Rogers did not allow a hit in her last three innings of the game.

The Vols hopped on the board today first in the second inning. An error by Sydney Kuma with two outs allowed the inning to continue and a runner to score. The Lady Vols were able to notch three more runs by back-to-back doubles before the inning ended.

The Dawgs put one run on the board in the bottom of second with a solo homer to left field.

In the top of the third the Vols found their rhythm and scored five runs in the inning. Including a three-run homer to extend their lead to 9-1. Fincher answered back in the bottom of the inning with a three-run blast to right field to bring the score to 9-4.

In the fourth Tennessee added two more runs with a homer un to expand their lead to 11-4. In the bottom of the inning Sydney Kuma drilled one up the middle for an RBI single that scored Ellie Armistead.

The Dawgs will be back in action on Sunday looking for a win to clinch the series against the Vols. First pitch at Jack Turner Stadium is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
