No. 3 Florida was just too much for the 18th ranked Georgia softball team on Saturday down in Gainesville, FL, as the Lady Bulldogs were shutout and shut down by the Gators 5-0.

The Bulldogs left eight on base, finishing the game with seven hits and two walks off of Kelly Barnhill (14-0). Cortni Emanuel and Sydni Emanuel tabbed two of those apiece while Maeve McGuire, Jordan Doggett and Ciara Bryan each added one.

Brittany Gray (17-7) went four frames worth, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out three. Kylie Bass came in at the top of the fifth with one hit and a pair of strikeouts in her line.

A bases-loaded walk brought in Florida’s first run in the opening frame before the Gators busted out a four-run fourth inning. A leadoff triple from Aleshia Ocasio had her score on a fielder’s choice while Amanda Lorenz tabbed an RBI single. An error then brought in the final two runs.

Georgia had its chances, but were unable to produce. The Emanuels started the game with back-to-back bunt singles while Georgia loaded the bases in the fifth with hits from Doggett and S. Emanuel plus a walk to Bryan. The Bulldogs also rallied for two-out hits in the seventh, but were left stranded.
