Georgia senior outfielder Cortni Emanuel has been named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award.

Announced Wednesday by USA Softball, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United States, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award enters its 17th season and recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players across the country.

Emanuel, a Preseason All-Southeastern Conference selection, is one of 23 seniors on the watch list and among 10 SEC players. The SEC has eight member institutions represented on the list, the most of any conference.

Along with All-America status in 2017, the Missouri City, Texas native was named NFCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-SEC. She ranked fourth in the league with a .426 batting average and hits (80), seventh in runs scored (49), and her 43 stolen bases led the league while also ranking 10th in the nation.

The Top 25 Finalists for the 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced April 25. While an athlete does not have to be on the “Watch List” to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be announced May 9 and the Top 3 announced May 23. The 2018 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 29.
