LAST TIME OUT: OLE MISS

Georgia won its third SEC series last weekend, taking two of three from Ole Miss in Athens. The Senior Day weekend was led by the seniors, as Chelsea Wilkinson took a win and a save in the circle, holding a 0.50 ERA with nine strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. At the plate, Tina Iosefa recorded a team-best five hits to go with four RBI. Katie Browne hit her first home run of the year–a grand slam–to put Georgia ahead for good in game three to go with a pickoff and catching a runner stealing.

The underclassmen did their part as well, as Alyssa DiCarlo notched her 10th home run of the year in the series finale while adding five RBI over the three games. Maeve McGuire recoded a team-high three runs while Sydni Emanuel hit .667 for the series.

BROWNE HITS FIRST CAREER GRAND SLAM

With her team down by three, one out on the board and bases loaded, Browne stepped up in a big way, hitting her first home run of the season along with her first career grand slam. The home run over left field gave Georgia the lead it needed to win the series finale against Ole Miss while allowing Browne to set a new career high with four RBI. Browne’s last home run was almost a year ago also against Ole Miss.

The grand slam was the seventh of the year for Georgia, the most since 2005 and the six the team hit in 2011. Along with Browne, Alex Hugo, Kaylee Puailoa and DiCarlo have one each this season while Iosefa has had three.
