SWIMMING & DIVING: 6 Swimmers, 2 Divers, 1 Coach At FINA World Championships

[su_spacer size=”20″] Georgia’s program will be well represented as the swimming portion at the 2015 FINA World Championships gets under way next week at Kazan Arena Stadium in Russia.[su_spacer size=”40″] Melanie Margalis, Shannon Vreeland, Nicolas Fink and Chase Kalisz will represent the United States, while Matias Koski (Finland) and Chantal Van Landeghem (Canada) will compete in their respective country¹s colors.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Kalisz, Koski and Van Landeghem are seniors for Georgia, but Kalisz and Van Landeghem are expected to redshirt in 2015-16 to train for the Olympics in Brazil. Margalis, Vreeland and Fink have completed their
collegiate eligibility.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The swimming events will begin on Sunday and will continue through the following Sunday. Forty-two of the Championships¹ 75 aquatics medals will be up for grabs during that span.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Also, high diving will take place starting on Monday and former Lady Bulldog Ginger Fields Huber will be participating for the United States.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Former Lady Bulldog Laura Ryan will be competing for the United States on the 3-meter springboard as diving concludes this week. Ryan, who came in ninth with Abby Johnston on 3-meter synchro earlier in the Championships, will be in action on the 3-meter prelims on Friday.
