Three UGA Divers Qualify for NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships

UGA divers McKensi Austin, Olivia Ball and Charlie Clifton qualified for the NCAA Championships based on their performances during the Zone B Championships at Auburn’s James E. Martin Aquatics Center on Monday.

 
 
The Zone B event marks the only way divers can advance to the NCAAs Championships March 15-18 for the women and March 22-25 for the men, both in Indianapolis. Zone B can qualify 10 on 1-meter, nine on 3-meter and seven on tower for the women, and eight, 10 and nine, respectively, for the men.
 
 
Ball came in sixth on the women’s 3-meter springboard with 605.30 points, including 312.50 during prelims. Austin placed ninth with 595.40 points, rolling up 305.60 in finals. During prelims, Allison Greene (211.25) and Madison Duvall (183.35) placed 38th and 39th, respectively.
 
 
Clifton finished fourth on the men’s 1-meter springboard with a total of 692.25 points, including 358.35 in prelims. Ian Forlini came in 11th as he posted 621.65 points, followed by Walker Wheeler in 30th with 253.80 points in prelims.
 
 
The Lady Bulldogs have 14 swimmers going to the national competition. Clifton’s swimming teammates for the NCAA meet will be announced on Wednesday.
 
 
On Tuesday, the women’s 1-meter will begin at noon, followed by men’s 3-meter. The men’s and women’s platform events will kick off at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Live results are available on DiveMeets.com.
