Austin Smith Climbs Up the Latest Men’s Tennis Rankings

Georgia men’s tennis senior Austin Smith jumped seven spots to No. 17 in the latest Oracle/ITA Singles Rankings as the Bulldogs stayed at No. 6 in the team standings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday.
 
 
Smith has won three-straight matches and boasts a team-high 15 wins against ranked opponents this season. The Cumming, Georgia, native has been the leader for 2015-16 Bulldogs, who won their fourth-straight SEC title and 39th overall league crown.
 
 
Fellow senior Ben Wagland joins Smith in doubles as the seventh-ranked duo in the nation according to the latest rankings. Sophomore Wayne Montgomery is ranked 35th, whole sophomore Paul Oosterbaan is at No. 96 in singles.
 
 
The Bulldogs will face the winner of the Alabama vs. Ole Miss contest this Friday at the 2016 SEC Tournament, which will take place in Columbia, South Carolina.
