Georgia Women’s Tennis Team Blanked by Florida 4-0

The No. 3 Georgia women’s tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 4 Florida on Friday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in front of 1,032 fans.
 
 
The Bulldogs fell to 17-3 on the season with a 10-2 mark in the conference. The Gators improved to 17-2 overall and 12-0 in the SEC.
 
 
“The great thing about our group is each match we play, we learn a lot – especially in our three losses this year,” Georgia head coach Jeff Wallacesaid. “This is just another one where we’ve got to take some important things that happened in this match and apply it Sunday against South Carolina. We’ve had a great talk. We’re looking forward to practice tomorrow, working on a few things and then concluding our final regular season match here at home.”
 
 
At the start of singles competition Florida led Georgia 1-0 after the Bulldogs dropped the doubles point.
 
 
In Singles, the Gators took the first three singles matches, winning on courts three, four and six to clinch the match 4-0.
 
 
When the match concluded both Ellen Perez and Mariana Gould were in the third set with a 1-0 lead.Kennedy Shaffer was up 4-3 on her opponent in the second set, after dropping the first set 7-5.
 
 
Georgia returns to the match court for its final regular season meet on Sunday to face South Carolina in Athens at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.
