The No. 7 Georgia women’s tennis team defeated No. 8 Florida State 4-3 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon with the match once again coming down to the final singles match and the decision coming in the third set.
In doubles, the Seminoles would strike first as Andrea Garcia and Nandini Das bested Meg Kowalski and Lea Ma 6-3 on court three. A back and forth affair on court one resulted in an upset of No. 7 Victoria Allen and Petra Hule. ArianaArseneault and Katarina Jokic defeated the duo 6-4 on court one. Jokic’s win is her second top-10 upset of the season, after taking down No. 3 Alexa Graham and Sara Daavettila of North Carolina last match with partner Ania Hertel. No. 37 Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc, once down 4-2, came back to take down No. 50 Emmanuelle Salas and GiuliaParione 7-5 on court two, sealing the third-straight doubles point for the Bulldogs.

In singles, No. 60 Kowalski quickly gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead after taking down Hule 6-0, 6-1 on court three. No. 31 Ma went up against No. 92 Das on court two and picked up her first singles dual win of the year, winning 6-4, 6-2. No. 73 Coppoc fell in three sets to give Florida State their first point of the match, losing to 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to Salas on court four. Christofi was defeated by No. 106 Allen on court five, 6-2, 6-2. The Seminoles knotted the match up at three a piece after Arseneault fell on court six to Garcia 7-5, 6-0. Coming down to No. 16 Jokic on court one, facing off against No. 27 Pairone, she went the distance in three sets and clinched the match for the Bulldogs 6-4, 6-7(3) 6-2 on court one giving Georgia the 4-3 win.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Feb. 11 against Georgia Tech with first serve set for 3 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
