Georgia begins the fall season with the 51st Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sept. 7-10 — the first of two fall events at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The Bulldogs also host ITA Regionals on Oct. 17-22.
In the spring, Georgia starts with the MLK Invitational in Atlanta on Jan. 12-14, before head coach Manuel Diaz and his squad begin the indoor season with the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 25-26 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
“This year’s schedule will be a great challenge for our team,” Diaz said. “It will be a busy fall with two events here in Athens, which will give fans the chance to come watch some great tennis. Then, the spring season features a tremendous opportunity at Ohio State as well as home non-conference matches against Georgia Tech, FAU, Mercer and Texas. The SEC will once again be loaded this year with a lot of good teams that will have an opportunity to fight for a conference championship. Our guys have been working very hard this summer to get better, and we are anxious to get started.”
A home match against Georgia Tech on Feb. 3 and a trip to defending national runner-up Ohio State on Feb. 10 are sandwiched between the ITA Kick-Off and ITA Team Indoors. The Bulldogs will then return home to host FAU and Mercer on back-to-back days Feb. 25 and 26.
The SEC schedule begins on March 1 against Tennessee — the first of six league road contests at Texas A&M (March 7), at Ole Miss (March 22), at Mississippi State (March 24), at Kentucky (April 12) and at Vanderbilt (April 14). Georgia’s home conference slate includes dates against LSU (March 9), Florida (March 15), South Carolina (March 17), Alabama (March 29), Auburn (March 31) and Arkansas (April 7).
The 2019 SEC Tournament will take place April 18-22 in Gainesville, Fla., with the NCAA first and second rounds set for May 4-5 at various campus sites. This year also marks the first season of the new NCAA Super Regional format with the top eight seeds remaining after the first two rounds set to host Super Regional matches on May 11.
This year’s NCAA championships featuring the final eight teams will take place on May 16-25 at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla.
