A native of Peachtree City, Ga., Phillips is ranked No. 17 nationally by tennisrecruiting.net. He won the USTA Southern Championships earlier this year in Chattanooga, Tenn, and he also won a pair matches to earn a spot in the main draw of the Easter Bowl Championship in Indian Wells in April. Phillips later reached the doubles quarterfinals of the Prince George’s County International Hard Court Championship in College Park, Md., in August.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “We’re glad to have AP on board,” Diaz said. “I’ve known him since he was around eight years old, and he’s always been an outstanding young man and a very good player. It’s been great watching him grow up, and now we are happy to have him as a member of our Bulldog family. Alex has a great future ahead of him.”
