In other action, the doubles duo of Austin Smith and Ben Wagland won two matches to claim the consolation bracket at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, New York.

The Bulldogs picked up two more wins in doubles at the Bulldog Scramble during the second wave of action. Reinberg and Duncan picked up their second of the day over Georgia Tech’s Carlos Benito and Daniel Yun, 6-4. Freshman Andy Martinez and senior Nick Wood followed suit with a 6-4 score over South Carolina’s Alex Fennell and Sam Swank.

Wood defeated Georgia Tech’s Daniel Yun 6-3, 6-2 to get off the court first for the Bulldogs. Martinez added another singles win to the Bulldogs’ total with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Notre Dame’s Nathan Griffen. Duncan was defeated by South Carolina’s Alex Fennell 6-3, 6-4 while Reinberg fell to Harvard’s Chris Morrow 7-5, 6-4.

After dispatching Virginia’s top-seeded tandem of Mac Styslinger and Thai-Son Kwiatkowski in the morning (6-4, 6-4) to move into the finals, they topped the hometown pair in a third-set tiebreaker. Wagland and Smith defeated Columbia’s Mike Vermeer and Michal Rolski 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6) to end the road trip.
