Four Georgia men’s tennis players — Walker Duncan, Wayne Montgomery, Nathan Ponwith and Emil Reinberg — travel to San Francisco this weekend for the 2017 Battle in the Bay Classic.

Held at the California Tennis Club, the event begins Friday and runs through Sunday with a 32-player singles draw and a main doubles draw. The tournament features players from 12 schools, including Georgia, TCU, USC, California, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, UC Santa Barbara, San Diego, Hawaii, Boise State and San Francisco.

This is the third tournament of Georgia’s fall season so far. The Bulldogs hosted the 50th Annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships to open the fall campaign before sending Andy Martinez, Alex Phillips, Robert Loeb and Jan Zielinski to the International Tennis Hall of Fame/ITA Grass Court Invitational last week.

On Friday, the quartet of Bulldogs will open with the Round of 32 in singles. Each Georgia player is seeded with Montgomery as the No. 2 seed, Reinberg the No. 3, Ponwith at No. 4, and Duncan at No. 6. The doubles draws will be announced Thursday afternoon.
