The Georgia men’s tennis team won back-to-back matches over top-five programs Southern California and UCLA to advance to the final four of the NCAA Championships and will face No. 9 North Carolina at 10 AM at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, GA.

The Bulldogs most recent win came against No. UCLA on Saturday night after a five-hour rain delay. No. 12, (22-7) Georgia trailed 1-0 heading into the long break but were able to rally, and for the second-consecutive match, defeat a team that had beaten them earlier in the season. A win over the Tar Heels (28-4) would make it three straight, as Georgia looks to avenge its February loss to North Carolina, which took place at ITA National Indoors. UNC upset the top-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons in the other quarterfinal match that was also delayed by the weather.

Despite starting the season 3-5, a stretch that included the aforementioned loss to the Tar Heels, Georgia has been able to advance to the semifinals for the second-consecutive year thanks to a big turnaround. In their last 21 matches, the Bulldogs have won 19, including two top-five wins in the NCAA Championships – in the Round of 16 vs. No. 4 USC and the Quarterfinals against No. 5 UCLA.

The winner of Monday’s match will take on the winner of No. 2 Virginia and 3rd-seeded Ohio State, who will also be playing their semifinal match this morning. The Championship match will be held on Tuesday, May 23, at 1:00 p.m., and will be televised live on ESPNU.
