MEN’S TENNIS: ITA Sets Matchups For National Indoor Championship

The 11th-ranked Georgia men’s tennis team will play No. 9 UCLA in the first round of the 2016 ITA National Men’s Team Indoor Championship on Friday, Feb. 12 at 12 p.m. ET, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Tuesday.

The winner of the Georgia vs. UCLA matchup will face the winner of No. 2 seed Texas A&M and 15th-seeded Columbia on Saturday. This year’s event, which is hosted by the University of Virginia, will take place at the Boar’s Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va., with the finals set to take place on Monday, Feb. 15.

Georgia enters competition this weekend following a 6-1 victory against in-state rival and 44th-ranked Georgia Tech this past Saturday, earning their 29th win in the last 30 meetings with the Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Wayne Montgomery clinched the match for the Bulldogs with a win against sixth-ranked Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech at the top singles spot.

The Bulldogs are now 3-1 overall this season and punched their ticket to the ITA Indoor Championships after taking down No. 47 UC Santa Barbara and No. 40 Memphis during the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Athens.

Following this weekend’s action, Georgia returns home to host East Tennessee State on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. ET.
