Georgia men’s tennis junior Jan Zielinski won his sixth match over a ranked opponent this fall, while Walker Duncan rolled to his second-straight ranked victory to highlight the Bulldogs’ day at the 2017 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships.

The pair of wins means Duncan and Zielinski will advance to the Round of 64 in the qualifying bracket. Duncan will play No. 4 seed Catalin Mateas from Duke and Zielinski will face Jackie Tang from Columbia in the next round.

Sophomore Robert Loeb was the only other Bulldog in action on Monday. He had a tough match against Portland’s No. 1 singles player Mike Pervolarakis. Pervolarakis entered the match following a 17-3 record in dual-match play season ago. Loeb fell, 7-5, 6-2, to move to 3-3 overall this fall.

“Really proud of all the guys today,” head coach Manuel Diaz said. “Jan and Walker each continue to play excellent tennis this fall with wins over ranked opponents and Robert looked really good in a loss to Portland’s No. 1 singles player. So, all in all, a good day for our guys. I look forward to seeing what they can do tomorrow.”
