The ITA Kick-Off Weekend will return to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in January 2018 where the UGA women’s team will host Pennsylvania, Furman, and Michigan State from January 26th-27th. The ITA Kick-Off Weekend Draft will be released today at 12 Noon.

The ITA Kickoff Weekend was crafted in 2009 as a qualifier for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. Sixty schools compete for 15 spots in the national tournament as the last spot is held by the host institution. Following a year absence, the women’s national indoors will return to the University of Wisconsin’s campus in Madison, Wis., Feb. 9-12.

After 15 ITA Kickoff Weekend host sites are named, a draft is held with schools selecting which site to play at in order of year-end ITA team rankings. The Nos. 1 and 4 seeds and the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds will play in the first round with the two winners meeting in the second round match for a ticket to the esteemed National Indoor Championships.

This season, the Bulldogs shut out New Mexico and Illinois in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to make their sixth-straight National Team Indoors appearance. At the finals site in New Haven, Conn., the Bulldogs defeated Duke and Pepperdine prior to falling to top-ranked and eventual champion Florida in the semifinals. Georgia joined North Carolina as the only two teams to reach the semifinals in each of the past three years.

The Georgia women have won the National Team Indoors three times (1994, ’95, ’02) and have reached the National Indoors final seven times. The 2002 Championship occurred at Wisconsin’s Nielsen Tennis Stadium. Georgia is 17-1 all-time in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend, including a perfect 16-0 when serving as the host.

The Dan Magill Tennis Complex will also act as a host site for the men’s side. The men’s ITA Kick-Off Weekend Draft is scheduled for Thursday at noon. The finals site for the men is set at the University of Washington. A complete schedule of tennis for the weekend is listed below.
