The UGA men’s tennis team will look to vie for a chance at the Final Four when they face off against No. 5 UCLA at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, GA.

The Bulldogs are fresh off a stunning 4-3 upset of No. 4 Southern California on Thursday in the Round of 16. Georgia trailed the Trojans Thursday, 3-2, before Jan Zielinski and Wayne Montgomery won their three-set matches within less than a minute of each other to clinch the victory. Meanwhile, UCLA knocked off Texas A&M, 4-1, in the Bruin’s Round of 16 match.

The last time the two schools met in the NCAA Tournament was in 2007, also in Athens, when the Bulldogs went on to win their first of two consecutive national titles. Georgia was able to sweep UCLA, 4-0, in the quarterfinals that season. Earlier this season, UCLA won a tight, 4-3 match against Georgia as part of the SEC/Pac-12 Showdown. The loss was part of a 3-5 start for the Bulldogs, who have won 18 of the 20 matches they have played since.

The winner of Saturday’s match will take on the winner of No. 1 Wake Forest and 9th-seeded North Carolina, who will also meet at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The semifinals will be held on Monday, May 22, at 12 Noon.
