UGA vs Kentucky Women’s Tennis – Bulldogs look to tame Wildcats

UGA vs Kentucky women’s tennis: the third-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (12-1, 5-0) are set to hit the road for a pair of SEC matches, facing No. 23 Kentucky on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Lexington before taking on reigning national champion No. 5 Vanderbilt on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Nashville.
 
 
The match against the Commodores will be a rematch of last year’s SEC championship match which Vanderbilt won 4-3 in Columbia, South Carolina.
 
 
“We’ve been playing well, and now we get to hit the road again,” said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. “We had a lot of road matches earlier in the year and we’ve been home for a while, so here we go up to Kentucky and over to Nashville. They’re two great teams. It should be two great matches.”
 
 
The Bulldogs maintain four players in the latest ITA singles poll, spearheaded by sophomore Ellen Perez who received her highest-ever ranking of No. 7. Junior Caroline Brinson came in 27th, sophomore Kennedy Shaffer got her highest nod of the spring at No. 56 and senior Silvia Garcia was ranked 79th.
 
 
Georgia also has two doubles pairs ranked. Top-court duo Perez and Mariana Gould lead the way at No. 25, and the pairing of Garcia and Shaffer check in 63rd. That pair has yet to play together this spring.
 
 
Kentucky and Vanderbilt each are also featured in the new rankings, with Kentucky boasting two singles players and the third-ranked doubles pair. Vanderbilt has three ranked in singles and two ranked pairs, though Courtney Colton is in both of the Commodores’ ranked duos.
 
 
Georgia’s all-time records against Kentucky and Vanderbilt are 33-10 and 31-10, respectively.
