The Georgia women’s tennis team posted a perfect 12-0 mark Saturday in fall tournament action at the Big 5 Challenge on the campus of TCU.
Georgia duos claimed three doubles matches to start the day and then went 9-0 in the various singles flights. The 34th-ranked Bulldog tandem of Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc registered a 6-3 win over the 56th-ranked Virginia Tech duo of Elena Cerezo-Codina and Caroline Daxhelet in flight one. In flight two, Georgia’s Annette Goulak and Vivian Wolff defeated the Nika Kozar/Nina Sorkin duo of Virginia Tech. Also, Georgia’s Katarina Jokic and Laura Patterson notched a win in flight three over Sarah Baron/Luisa Uscocovich (Virginia Tech).
In singles, Christofi and Jokic improved to 6-1 this fall with straight-sets victories in their respective flights. Patterson remained undefeated in singles as she moved her record to 5-0 with a straight set win in flight six over Elizabeth Tedford (TCU).
Based on player records through the first two days of the event, Sunday will feature championship matches in each flight along with additional singles and doubles contests for the remainder of the field. Action begins at 9:30 a.m. ET.
