Last week, Georgia opened its season by playing host to the Puerto Rico Fall Classic. Due to the recent hurricanes impacting the Caribbean, the tournament was moved to Athens. Georgia’s Elena Christofi and Katarina Jokic went 4-0 in singles and were named tri-champions along with Vanderbilt’s Summer Dvorak.
In the preseason ITA rankings, Christofi is No. 10 in singles and No. 34 in doubles with freshman Morgan Coppoc. The Georgia tandem is 1-1 this year. Bulldog sophomore Marta Gonzalez, who is 3-1 in singles this fall, is ranked No. 105.
Georgia senior Laura Patterson posted a 3-0 mark in singles during the Puerto Rico Fall Classic while Bulldog freshman Annette Goulak went 3-1. Also of note, Georgia used nine different doubles combinations last weekend. Overall, the Bulldogs went 20-7 in singles and 6-4 in doubles in their first fall action.
